I got a rash around my abdomin, surrounding my wounds. I've had it for a few days now, and the doc said put yeast infection cream on it. I feel like the cream is only keeping it from itching, but not really reducing the rash. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do? I'm calling my doctor first thing monday morning but I have to survive the weekend with this itch.

I feel your pain--I had a HUGE rash after my surgery due to an allergic reaction to something used on my skin during surgery.  It lasted a week and a half and was not fun.

I used a lot of gold bond powder, talc, Eucerin calming cream, Aveeno soothing lotion with menthol.  I was allowed to take benadryl (I got the liquid version) and put benadryl or cortisone cream on it, but sparingly and no more than twice a day.  Lotions with menthol in them can be applied a bit more frequently in between.

Doesn't this stuff always seem to happen on the weekend!

Hang in there and feel better and if it gets unbearable, see if you can't call the doctor on call at your clinic for advice.

I did that, too! I think mine was from the IV dilaudid they gave me post-op for the pain.  I use cortisone cream and lots of lotion.  But if your MD thinks it's yeast--DO NOT use cortisone!!   But, boy  did it drive me INSANE!

You should be able to take Benadryl too.
