I will check that out. I hope Dr.Olsen will give me a list of what all I can have and then I will go by that. There is a short shopping list in my book. I just need to find this stuff. Thanks for your advice, I will see if I can find a Vitamin Shop. Is that what that stuff is Vitamins. Im sorry I am so clueless.

Unjury and Isopure are the NASTIEST tasting protein powder out there.  I don't know of any others that are as nasty as these.  That seems to be the general consensus...  Isopure has been lovingly referred to as ISOPUKE, cause that's usually a response it gets from the patient.

There is one we found that is much better tasting then Isopure.  Its called Cytosport Pure Protein RTD  the stats are very good... 40 grams of protein per bottle.  It comes in watermelon, tropical and I believe an orange.  Susan (Bilsrib) agrees that these would be a much better choice than Isopuke, I mean, Isopure.

You would be better off geting a sample pack from Bariatric Eating like Juanita suggested.  They do have these with or without Susan Maria's Bariatric Eating book... . Here is a link:  Sample Pack.

Anything Bariatric Eating sells is a great product.  Susan Maria only sells it if (a) it is good for you first and foremost and (2) it tastes great (next most important criteria on her list).+

Sonya, when are you scheduled for the preop. class? Pam, the dietitian will go over the supplements and the time period for each at the class. Please do not buy a lot of anything other than what is in the manual. It's great to get input from lots of resources, but we do want you to follow our guidelines after surgery. A lot of research and experience are the basis of our dietary stages and supplements, all of which are outlined in detail in our manuals. There is a list of acceptable vitamins and supplements as well as where you can purchase them in the manual.

Hope to see you soon!

I agree with the isopure... it tasted like dishwasher to me... ICK.... I currently 8 weeks out still drink liquid protien (I eat too).   I typically do a protein shake for breakfast (EAS Carb Control) and then sometimes on the weekends if I am busy I will just do all liquids.

Definitely go to bariatriceating.com and order a sample pack - or 2.

Unjury is nasty, nasty, NASTY!!

Since this is something you are going to drink several times a day during the liquid phase (and many of us still enjoy our shakes even after reaching goal) you need to find a protein supplement you like. There is no need to choke down a nasty protein supplement with the variety that is out there.

The Cytosport Mel mentioned has the same stats as the "Isopuke" but it actually tastes good!

The Nectar proteins are tasty and well tolerated by most. They are zero carb and very low calorie. My personal favorite is Cappuccino but then I am a coffee addict. I just love the taste of anything coffee flavored.

If you would like to PM your mailing address to me, I would be willing to send you some samples of the protein powders I like along with where to purchase. I'm just guessing that Mel and some others might be willing to chip in some samples too. Mel has quite a stash. ::wink, wink::

You also stated that you are going to be using the Flinstones chewable...

I would strongly recommend that you use the Bariatric Advantage vitamins instead.  They are better for and made specificly for a bariatric patient.  You can get these online at www.bariatricadvantage.com.

Please use these as they are better for your body.  They are little bit more expensive, but what is your body worth?

Michael.
