You can order it online at Bariatriceating.com. Just a suggestion, they have a offer where you can buy sample packs . It comes with variety of different brands and flavors, you may want to try that because your taste will change after surgery so something you like now you may not tolerate after surgery. Best wishes to you !!!

Good Morning Sonya,

Yes, you are right, you are beginning to embark on the next phase of the WLS journey.

When you attend your pre-op nutrition visit, that is where they will be able to explain to you or go over with you what their recommended options are for you as “their" WLS patient. That is where they will also have some complimentary sample packets of various protein supplemental powders that is on their approved list.

If possible while doing your research focus on researched nutrition rather than what is referred to as “Silver Bullets" which are those quick solutions to difficult problems. It’s a good bet that there’s more marketing money than research money behind them. Put your efforts into good overall nutrition. The basics are more important than the exotics.

I am a very big fan of “Unjury". It is the only supplemental protein I like to use. My surgeons office gave me some sample packets of various kinds and I liked the Unjury hands down.

There are lots of myths about protein. Information spreads wildly on the internet. You can personally see an incorrect statement repeated a hundred or even a thousand times. It is hard not to be fooled. Look for websites that have good reputations and always first and foremost consult with your Weight Loss Surgery Center.

Sonya---there are a lot of online places where you can get the protein powder.  Unjury has its own website, I believe....and a lot of WLS patients like the Nectar (www.bestpricenutrition.com has a lot of protein supplements).  What is important is that your follow your Dr. Olsen's rec's for clear liquid protein (like Nectar in Fuzzy Navel) and then when you can go to the "shake" type of protein (like the GNC AMP, in chocolate, which I LOVE...you can get that at www.GNC.com or at any GNC store---they have the sample bags right now so you can taste it first...the vanilla isn't as good, but chocolate is wonderbar!).....just make sure that the protein & carbs & sugar are w/in your surgeon guidelines post-surgery---both Pam & Jill (the RDs at Centennial) will walk you through all of this.

Do you have your Gastric Bypass Owner's Manual from Centennial yet?  I haven't really found a question that is not answered in that manual and it lists all the protein supplements that are acceptable for Stage 1 and Stage 2, post surgery!

I hope that helps a bit!!!!  You are on your way to such exciting changes....yesterday was 5 weeks since my RNY surgery & I have gone from 293 to 250...so, a loss of 43 pounds!!! I got on the scale today & saw 248.6 for a brief moment before it set on 250 & I just was shocked at the idea of seeing the 40s so quickly...(dang scale that it didn't stay there...maybe tomorrow).....but, I have undergrown almost all my clothes & it is the best feeling.....make a list of all the things that you are so excited for after surgery (if you haven't already) and it will be the best b/c they all come true!

Good luck! xo, Micheala.

Congrats on your weight loss, I hope I do as good as you. I have the Gadtric Bypass owners manual I seen the list but I just didnt know were to get that stuff. I have never even heard of that stuff. I figure I will get the flintstones Complete chewables and my pcp said he could give me B-12 shots once a month. I need to as Dr. Olsen about that and see if that`s ok. One thing that I hope will come out of the surgery besides the weight loss is I hope I get some energy back and get back to my old self were I feel like doing something. Thanks for  your advice!!!

I like the Vitamin Shoppe. It is so much easier for me just to go pick up what I need instead of dealing with ordering and shipping. There is a lot of variety there. I don't know about Unjury but I'm sure you can check. There are cheaper ones on the net, but sometimes it ends up being more by the time you pay shipping charges.
