Chicken is really super-dense as far as protein goes. If you have chicken, maybe you should have something to kind of stretch it out? I can't really think of anything that would be compatible with the RNY, so I'm not much help. (I'd add some kind of gravy or make a chicken salad out of it).
But if you have to have chicken, maybe have it more ground up and teeny tiny weeeny bites. And very, very slowly. I'm sure you took very small bites indeed, but I think that chicken and perhaps turkey are the hardest things to get all the way down and through when you've got a pouch or a band. Like take an amount about equal to your pinky fingernail, chew it like you do, really, realy well and then wait 2-3 minutes before taking the next bite. I've got several friends with the RNY and that's how they deal with the chicken problem.
I am admitting right now that I didn't read ahead, so if somebody else has already said this, I apologize. I'm going to have to learn to read ahead before I post.
