Terrifying The Children & Teenagers in Target....

Thanks, Mel.....you are definitely onto something.  I had about 20 minutes to run through Target & get e'thing on my list....my husband grabbed that chicken salad & the kids some organic Mac n cheese & nuts from Starbucks & they sat & ate while I tried to do the shopping.....I needed protein so I took that piece of chicken off his salad---it wasn't dry & I chewed & chewed it into smithereens, but, still I think because I was chewing & running (ah...now I know while you are not supposed to run w/food in your mouth...Mom was right!)....I am sure that my body was telling me WOAH!! SLOW DOWN!!  Well, sure enough, my tummy won!

I will eat in a yoga pose while meditating next time!  lol..xo, M.

OMGo**** happened to me too.  I was eating egg.  In my car, on the interstate on my way to Nashville.  I thought I just was eating to fast (like I was driving).  I had the pain, frothing, oh it was bad.  I managed to keep it down.  It hurt for about and hour (getting better slowly).  I kept thinking OMGosh don't throw up.  I had a Wal-mart bag spread across my lap.  I thought where would I pull over, on the side of the interstate?  I too just stuck to liquids for the day (I was in Nashville didn't want that to happen again).  The next day, went back to eating and everything was just fine (like it never happened).

I hate that happened to you in Target.  I think when we are out and busy, we just don't think as well.  Drink slowly, eat slowly, and chew..chew..chew.

Kerri---yup, you are right! I think that I was probably just not thinking & running around & my tummy said STOP!  I didn't and it won.  I did feel exactly like you---like I was going to throw up, but I didn't....I kinda just frothed a little w/a hiccup/burpie thing...it was so gross...in fact, when I did it I had to grab the bathing suit I had just put in the cart for my daughter's swim lessons and froth into that...lol..so sad....I then had to go to the front, ask for a bag, tear the tags off & bring the froth-ridden bathing suit home to wa**** so it would be "new" again...I will never look at that suit the same....of course, the people in Target will never look at me the same.

I swear, though, it felt like people describe a heart attack...I was totally out of control of my body...the pain was getting worse & worse right in my chest & I thought...damn, I am going to die right here in the sports drink aisle....I was just waiting for the next big thing to happen....gheeze....too much!  I have had one popsicle since my yogurt & that's it for today....I will try again tomorrow (but NO chicken!).

xo, M.

I wish I could say this had never happened to me. Chicken is bad for getting stuck for some reason. I don't eat it much anymore unless it is very moist and tender. I don't think you have a stricture if you are keeping liquids down. However, eventually you will have to try eating again. Start with a slider food like pudding or yogurt and see how that goes. If you cant keep that down either then there might be a stricture. I hope its not. The few times I have gotten stuck, I worried about a stricture too and couldn't eat for several hours. After a while though, my pouch settled back down and I was fine.
Good luck.

Karen---thanks for the advice (and I LOVE your new pic...you look great!!!)----I went back to liquids through breakfast this morning & then for lunch had two eggs...they went down fine, as did the shrimp I had for dinner....so, it was the chicken & it will probably be a LONG time before I eat chicken again.....xo, Micheala.

Thanks, Micheala. I've had both good and bad experiences with chicken. My pouch is pretty temperamental sometimes.

Okay, now I think the more troubling question here is why did that kid go back to restocking the shelves without UNCLOGGING the toilet he just clogged?!?  I mean he works at Target for the love of Mike!  He could go and get a plunger instead of leaving a nightmare in the toilet for the next person to stumble upon.  Sheesh, kids these days!

And did you just leave the splat there?  Serves the kid right if he had to clean up your yak since he clogged the toilet.  Turnabout is fair play, heh heh heh!

I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but it makes for a hysterical story!

I was planning on swinging by Target on the way home tonight.  I'll never look at that place the same way again!!!

I hope you're feeling better and are attempting to eat again.  I'm only 5 days away from graduating to Soft Foods (ooh,   I get a cap and gown!) and can't wait.  Maybe I'll pass on the chicken for now, though.

Hugs to you my dear Micheala!!!

Ha...ROFL...so funny!  I know....teenagers...lol..I mean, where did their manners go...the could see I was frothing...didn't their parents teach them that when someone is frothing at the mouth you should help!  LOL!

Congrats on the move to soft foods......just nix the chicken....ug!  I can't even dream of eating it again....harsh.

Glad to hear you are doing well.....we need to plan our Franklin walks.....I have been walking...today I did 2 miles--easy as pie---okay---easy as tuna (more WLS friendly)-----give my hugs to the puppers! xo, M.

Definitely sounds like it just may be a little too soon for chicken breast. Sorry you had to experience the foamies in public. I've only had that pleasure in the privacy of my own home...soooo not fun either way. It doesn't sound like a stricture since you are still able to swallow fluids; however, if you find yourself not able to get in fluids or having trouble with soft proteins, then you should definitely consider putting in a call to your surgeon.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks! I wasn't sure what a stricture even was when I typed it---I just remembered the name from the seminar I went to......yes, I am able to keep liquids down (and two eggs and a few shrimp today)...so, I am feeling better.  No more chicken for quite some time, though.....eeeks!

By the way....your signature picture of Nicholas is so adorable & everytime I look at it the little logo on his high chair looks like a halo...so sweet!  xo, Micheala.
