Terrifying The Children & Teenagers in Target....

Okay...what the heck?  Today I was in Target shopping (actually, picking up some of the Powerade Zero sports drinks---found those yesterday & they are great) and my husband had just had a grilled chicken salad & I ate a piece of his chicken off of it.  It was about 1/2 ounce & I chewed it really, really well.  About 3 minutes later I felt this terrible pain in my chest...it stopped me in my tracks....I kept swallowing, but it just hurt more & more & MORE.

I had read about food getting stuck &, actually, yesterday I had chicken at lunch & dinner & I had the same pain, but today's was much worse.  As I stood in the aisle I was really getting concerned because with every swallow the pain intensified and then I realized that I was going to vomit.  I looked over & there was this family--a mom and four kids, just staring at me---I must have been a sight---I realized that I was sweating & frothing from the mouth & it was actually dripping down my *****awww...I'm so pretty!) onto the floor & I didn't even realize it.  So, for fear that I was going to scar & harm these children in some way ("Mom..remember the freaky lady in the sports drink aisle at Target that had rabies......that was wierd").... so I just ducked into the "Employee's Only" doors in the back of the store....there, however, I was faced with four teenagers who were stocking the shelves....they all just looked at me, foaming away...then, it happened...I threw up (although it wasn't really a vomit, but more of a burp---gosh..TMI, eh?).....and it hit the floor. I asked for a bathroom and the one teenage boy said, "I just stopped it up, ma'ma"...okay....I thought I was going to vomit horribly, but I just stood there....I finally turned around to walk out & find another bathroom & I heard one of the girls say, "I hope I never get pregnant...my mom threw up for weeks at the beginning".  Okay----funny---I'm not preggers and, actually, don't look "pregnant" at this point, but however she wanted to work through the mess that she saw.....gheeze...

So, my weight loss historians, what the heck?  I have not tried to eat again....liquid is going down well, but I still can feel a twinge of pain when I swallow & I am not wanting to even take my vitamins....ug.....what happened to me today (& yesterday?).  Could this be a stricture or would I be vomiting e'thing if it was that?  xo, M.

I've heard chicken tends to get "stuck" more than other stuff.

OMG, Micheala!!!!   OK...  I had the same problem with some chicken, NOT nearly as tragically, dramatically, funny as yours..  mine happened at home and only Connor tapping me on the shoulder as I hugged onto the potty, saying, "Momma, what'cha doing to the toilet?"

I asked on the other boards and one lady said I had the foamies and she said she gets it from chicken, especially if it had been microwaved.  (((SHRUG))))

I am so SORRY you went through all that in Target!!!  Call your doctor's office, tomorrow if you are not comfortable with eating.  I did give myself a day of liquids afterwards too, and I've stayed away from microwaving chicken!

HUGS

Take care of yourself!!!!

Thanks, Amy--I am going to stay away from chicken for a while (and that Target...blush, blush...ug!).....the chicken wasn't microwaved, but it was chicken three times.  Tonight while the fam ate dinner I had a Carb Master Yogurt, which I break & crush all my vitamins & Rx into & it went down fine.  I have also been drinking liquids & all is well.  I think I am swearing off (and swearing at!) chicken for quite some time....tuna is now my best friend!!  xo, M.

P.S....Mommy, what are you doing to the toilet cracked me up!!! "Just giving it a big hug, Connor"...lol

Ir doesn't sound like a stricture. Sounds more like it did get stuck. I had this happen to me last weekend. While we were out cleaning up in a friend's neighborhood after the tornado, someone brought me a hamburger to eat. I took it off the bun and took a couple of bites. Almost immediately I got that same pain you described. I didn't froth at the mouth - although it felt like it. I vomitted some froth, some liquid, and the few bites I had taken. After I caught my breath I felt much better. I didn't want to eat either. It took me several hours before I could eat but when I did it was just fine. It was very very scarey though. My explanation for it was that the burger was just way to greasy for me to handle now. I'd eaten hamburgers before without trouble.

Anyway you're not alone and you will survive!

So sorry that happened to you, too---but, it's nice to know that it is normal....yuk!  I am so turned off by chicken now that I can't even stand the thought of it!

Hope you and your friends in M'Boro are okay & e'one is putting the pieces back together.

Take care, Micheala.

Probably a good thing to do is go back to soft foods to allow your tummy to settle down.  Sometimes, our tummies just like to remind us THEY are the boss...  what we can eat today, we might not be able to eat tomorrow...  Was the chicken too dry?  Sometimes folks can't eat chicken very well.  For me, it was beef.  I couldn't eat any steak or hamburger for a very long time...  it took me 2 yrs to eat steak, and I'm coming on 2 1/2 yrs now, and did eat a few ounces just a few weeks ago...  with no problem.

One thing to guide you is to not eat in public.  Stay at home, in comfort, at least 30 minutes after you eat.  That will help in case you should get sick...  Take care of your tummy...  !
