Preop Diet for Dr. Douglas Olsen

Does anyone know what Dr. Olsen's preop diet is and how long it is. I know I can call the office Monday, just hoping to get a head's up from OH members. I am a Type II diabetic on metformin 500 ER once daily.

I looked in my Gastric Bypass Owners manual and it said to stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, weight loss pills and birth control pills 2 weeks before surgery. But nothing about starting the liquid diet until 2 days before surgery. But that is what the book says I would call in Monday and make sure. When is your surgery? Good Luck....

I don't even have a date yet. Just trying to prepare my mind.

I dont blame you, I would try to prepare myself as much as I could and then there will be no suprises.

Dr. O has you to do liquids for 2 days prior.  I was glad this was a weekend for me.  On the first day you drink 2..YES 2 bottles of the magnesium citrate (stuff that makes you go and go and go).  At this day 1 you are on full liquids.  Day 2 you are on only clear liquids.  Its not as hard as I thought it would be.  I just kept thinking of all the people on here who had to do like 2 weeks liquid and I knew I could get through 2 days.

Dr Olsen has an "optional" 2 week liquid diet if u r feeling froggy...unfortunatley i was not.  i start my 2 day liquid diet tomorrow with the lovely bowel prep!!  That just means i am closer to "the day"   Good luck with everything...once u see him time just flies.
