I got around the insurance jerks

Brief history, got the band in 2006, it broke in 2008, applied for BPD/DS in January and was denied by exclusion.  I saw my gastro doc today for my GERD and explained my situation and about trying to get the band out and get the bypass.  He was very understanding.  He agreed that the band has probably eroded and told me that he would see to it that I would get my surgery.  So I will be getting the band out and get my surgery with just the sleeve or maybe even the DS. And because it will be filed that I'm having surgery for the GERD, the insurance will pay for it.  Of course I have to have a full check-up, I will be getting a colonoscopy and an esophageal exam.  But I will be getting my surgery so I can put up with the exam.  And it really is needed after the age of 50.  So I hope to be getting surgery soon.  This is the best news that I have had in a year.

I am sorry to hear about the lap band and the insurance issues but congrats on being able to get the DS.   

This sounds like new news since we talked.   Great News!    It's about time things got rolling for you.   You are a prime example of persistance paying off!

Isn't it GREAT!!!  Now it's getting the tests over with and see how soon I can get the surgery.  The tests are next wednesday so I can't do lunch on tuesday because I have to be on clear liquids.  So girls,  how about lunch on Thursday at El Nopal?  I should be starving by then.  LOL

So far next Thursday is open for me!!
