Am I Insane? (Don't really answer that...just a topic)...

Don't stress, and that is coming from a person this morning who was totally STRESSED when the scale did not move at all from last week's weight!   So, in a week's time I lost nothing!!!  BUT, after my initial NO WAY!!!! reaction, I started to BREATHE, and realized, I can do this, I've already got my appt with the Y fitness coach for Phase 2, and I'm already back on track with my food journal, so I'll be fine and you will too.   You really shouldn't be weighing yourself every morning and night, once a week is good, because our bodies fluctuate with weight as much as 2-3 pounds, I always find myself heavier at night.

I also completely understand about other boards, I do visit a couple of others, but one I stay away from is the Realize/LapBand boards, and I know that might sound strange, but I got so depressed when I started reading all the horror stories on there!   I didn't need that in my life, I tend to stay away from horror and drama as much as I possibly can!

I enjoy the OH- TN boards, and even though we are not all using the same tool, we are all on the same journey!   And while there might be frustration there is always someone here to pick us up and make us look on the brighter side.

OK, so while I can't answer any of your RNY questions, I can say that given you are a mom to three little ones, have a husband, and are going through WLS, you might be just a tad insane, but who of us isn't??

Take care, BREATHE and enjoy the ride!!!

Thanks for minimizing my insanity...I would agree, but definitely much more than a tad...lol!

I have resolved myself to weighing only one time per day...in the morning....that's it.  Today is my 2 week surgiversary so I am going to take pics & do measurements, so that may also help boost my happiness (or not...!).....

Here's to us mom's with WLS!! What a job! xo, M.

I think the big thing about eating at what we all may consider bad restaurants, is that our lives go on even though we had the surgery. Sometimes we are gonna be traveling or so busy with life that we have to get in our protein (and my nut wants my protein mainly from real food now). So there are times we're gonna have to eat at restaurants that we may think are the devil reincarnated. The main thing is to make good choices. Most restaurants have a few good things that will fit in. You have have to ask  a few question, so if they use oil to cook meat and such, and look at the nutritional facts if available, but it's possible. It shouldn't be the norm for us as WLS patients, but life goes on. This weekend me and my wife, Missy (above) have to travel back to Ohio where our family is, and probably once a day we will have to eat at a restaurant. I'm not thrilled about it, but I'm already researching who has good choices so we can not end of miserable on our trip. Along with that we're gonna take some protein drinks (isopure & cytosport protein) and some protein bars. It's not ideal, but it's better than not getting it in.

In addition, so people have those cravings and have to learn the hard way. If I was trying to get some protein, rice, beans and sour cream wouldn't be it. Rice for a while is a NO NO. It's a simple carb, the dish I'm sure has more carbs than protein and generally it will sit bad and make you feel like **** Everyone's journey is their own and some have to learn the hard way to respect their pouch (whether it be from GB or Lap Band). Just be willing to suffer the consequences of whatever you put in your mouth and if it makes you feel like crap, be smart and learn from it.

Good luck, the stall will pass( everyone hits one between weeks 2 and 4), especially as you get in more protein, water and exercise.

Thanks Kenny---you are right....there will definitely be times when restaurants are a must.  In fact, Dr. H moved me to "soft foods" to replace 1 shake a day & I happened to try my first scrambled egg at Cracker Barrel on Saturday w/my family.....I am sure, between my husband's work, etc., tons of restaurants will be in our future...I just have to commit to making good protein choices.  I went into this as such an Atkins/South Beach nut and knowing how important protein is vs. non nutrient-dense carbs, that I am still carrying around that background & freaking about the idea of putting rice or a baked pot, etc. into my body.  Just can't do it.....and, I am scared to death of dumping, so....I am going to stay scared & try to remain calm.

The stall did pass a little bit today, so that's a plus, but I have learned that more will come, so I will try to keep it all in perspective.

xo, Micheala.

Yeah, I remember a few weeks ago, my first scrambled egg tasted so good. My nut has moved me to being able to have some startchy type vegatables and stuff. But after I get my protein, after the 1/2 cup of non starchy veggies, then I can have 2 tbls of starchy veggie or such. So it's not never it will just be in moderation, which is tough for us, we didn't get this way using moderation. But the fear is good, it'll keep you from getting into trouble too.

I'm glad to here the stall is passing, it does get aggravating. And to me it's all so overwhelming, I've never been so sick of meat, cheese and other protein. I'm really thankful that I don't have any issues with milk, it's the one thing I don't despise right now. But I know it will get easier, we are trying different things with recipes and remembering what works the best.

Good luck, you'll be skinny before you know it.

I have really enjoyed all of these posts.  It is so informative to hear from the veterans and the new folks who have had to deal with the "stall".  .  I have had the same questions..  It is SO frustrating to deal with especially when you have ZERO patience.   (Like me).  lol.

I am moving downward again...slowly.....but DOWNWARD.

Hang in there.  We are going to get to our goals.....TOGETHER!
