I'm BACK!!!

Hello everyone!!! I'm back at work now! Time to get back on my regular schedule.   I'm still in some pain. More from my port site than anywhere else. And sometimes I feel like my belly jolts. Has anyone else who has the lapband experienced that?

Glad to hear you're doing well, Laura!  When I talked to my surgeon, he said they're using a relatively new method for installing (?? is that the right word?) the port.  Now at Vandy, they secure it to a small piece of wire mesh.  Then they tunnel to the site and get everything placed.  As you heal, your tissues grow into the wire mesh and it keeps the port in place and keeps it from rotating or shifting.  I wonder if your doctor did that too?

Williams said that this newer technique requires less dissection (gross!).  That works for me.

I'm only a few scant days away from my liquid diet, so I'm not toooo far behind!

Hey girl! That is exactly what they did with me. Dr. Morton also explained to me that it was new. There is also a new type of port. It's smaller that the original. It's so wierd to know I have a "port". I can't see it but I can feel it.

Good luck to you on your pre-op diet! It's hard but you can do it! I've already lost 14 lbs since surgery and I'm super excited. Everyone says they can see it in my face.

I would have returned to work earlier... but I milked it for as long as possible!!!! OF COURSE!

Hey!! Thank you! I got a new number now anyway! That guy that went with us to the dinner club... remember him? Well we are dating now!!! haha. But he bought me a new cell phone cause I hated the service I had! I'll give you a ring and let you know the new number.

Okay, I'm just letting you know I am going to milk it for much longer than that!   So I am not telling anyone at work about your amazing, bounce-back recovery!

Yeah, I might be weirded out initially by the foreign object, but I'm going to give it a name, perhaps, and make it my pet or something.  Ya know, so I don't wake up screaming one night feeling the need to dig that thing outta me!  

I'm getting excited.  10 day till my surgery (only 5 more work days, thank goodness).  I'm looking forward to the break, to the new changes coming my way and the future.

And I love your new picture!!!!

Isn't it crazy that sometimes we look forward to a surgery as if it is a vacation?!? That's what I thought of mine! GOOD LUCK GIRL!

And thank you! I love the way my hair is now. I got a foot cut off about a week before surgery.
