Post op update

Hey everybody.  I went to the dr today for my post op visit.  Everything is good, (so far!)  I go back to work on monday with 2 weeks restrictions.  I want to make sure that everybody knows that my hernia was a complication of my RNY.  Dr. McDowell said that it's rare but it does happen.  I want to advise anyone that is having abdominal pain that can't be explained to ask about an internal hernia.  It's not a very nice experience at all.  He also told me that it can happen again and that there's nothing I can do to prevent it.  I don't want to scare anybody, but as alot of you know, I've been fighting this for about 3 months with no answers as to what the problem was.  I'm just glad we found out what it was before it got any worse.
As Dr. McDowell likes to say, "At the end of the day" I still don't have any regrets of having my RNY.  I will be 40 on sunday and I've dreaded that day for years.  Now, I don't.  I'm in better health and shape than I was when I turned 20 so I'm going to look at it as my new life.  Kids are grown and out of the house and it's just me and Randy (and the 4 cats!).  If only Randy could find a job, things couldn't be any better.

I am thrilled you are home and doing well.  Happy birthday.  40 never looked so good!!! I will be following you in a few months and I must say I am excited about it too!  Lord knows I felt terrible most of my 30's so 40 is an exciting new adventure in health and activity!!!

Melissa,

I'm so glad you are on the road to healing.  Girlfriend, you have really had it bad for several months and its time you got to feeling better.  The timing couldn't be better with spring arriving tomorrow and the days getting longer.  Hopefully now you will feel that getting out and doing something.

May your 40's be the best times of your life!

Well congrats on the news, I bet it is great to not be stir crazy from not working. I am sure that the pain is not good AT ALL because I had a hernia before surgery and it was awful. Go out and have a good time! You deserve it! Happy 40th, now that you have had the surgery and are better off than when you are 20 why don't you just consider this your 20th birthday? Sounds like a great plan to me lol

Melissa,
I am glad things are better now.  You have certainly had the belly problems this year! I hope you feel better soon.  Happy Birthday tomorrow!  I tell you what!  You be 20 again, and I'll take your 40!  I was just wishing that I had done this surgery 10 years ago!
Happy Birthday Dance
