UPDATE!! 3 weeks out from RNY
Hey everyone! Just an update since I hadn't posted in a few days. I was three weeks out from RNY surgery yesterday. Todays weight is 45 lbs less than my weigh in 6 weeks ago. I was on a liquid and protien diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery.
Still no problems and the best part I haven't experianced any nausea at all! All 6 of my surgery points have healed now including the drain incision.
My Doc let me start protien drinks one week out and I started soft protiens 2 weeks out, and soft veggies last week. So far I've tolerated everything well and I've been very excited with my results.
I was ask by a friend last night if I would do it again, knowing what I know now, and my reply was, heck yes, in a heart beat!! I'm very well pleased with my progress and I'm really "pumped" about the future of my new way of life! It ain't been easy, but I feel like it has been well worth the trip already. My blood sugar was 97 yesterday and I haven't had my Metformin since surgery. Matter of fact, I haven't taken anything except my baby asperin since sergery. I was taking 6 different medications a day before my surgery. My blood preasure was 110 over 70 today. I really feel like a new man already!
Well enough about my exciting new way of life. I just tend to get carried away when I get started talking about it. I feel so fortunate that I finally got approved, got it behind me now, and I really can't wait now to see what the future holds!
This big loser is on his way down! How low will I go???? Stick around and see!

Ditto! I had my RNY on 2/9 and I would do it all over again tomorrow. My weight loss is a little slower than I expected, but it is coming down. I have had no complicaitons at all so far. I think the slower weight loss for me has something to do with my blood sugar being under control for the first time in 20 years. Sometimes that can slow the process a bit. Any way it is not slow enough for me to complain. Any movement downward is WONDERFUL.
I am so happy to hear that Ron and Cathy are doing good after surgery and loosing weight. I had my DS on 02/24 and I am almost 1 month out and everything is going good. I am eating whatever I want and the weight is coming off, not as fast as I would like but it is coming off. I am down 37 pounds since surgery and 82 since January.
I too would have the surgery again in a heart beat.
Keep up the good work Ron...

Thanks friends for all the well wishes!
Each day now brings a new experiance of life, not dependant on meds and food! I only wish that I could have had my surgery sooner. I regret that I lost so much time feeling lousy, when I could have awaken each morning with a whole new outlook, as I do now. My surgery has truly changed my life. It has also been a mood altering experiance.
I guess I could sum it up like this, "My life is good, I live for the challenge , and I cherish this new life I have found."
