I'm also trying to get back into a daily routine like Denise mentioned in the last one on Tuesday. So I've been prepared with my IPod charged as I find it impossible to keep the energy up throughout my workout without some music and it's easier to concentrate without having to listen to the Hendersonville mom's gossip on the treadmill. So here's where I am...
Today: 10 minute warmup on the tread mill (.5 miles), nautilus working on arms and chest, like 5 or 6 different machines, at least 10-12 reps x 2, with a 2 minute run on treadmill to get the heart rate back up (.15 miles), then finished up with 10 more minutes on treadmill (.53 miles). Then when Missy got me home, because I evidently didn't look wore out enough, we took the dogs for a 15 minute walk around the neighborhood and now I'm pooped.

yeah, yeah. I know I'm evil for making him go out and walk the dogs. I spent the first 10 mins of the workout stretching to Barber's "adagio for strings". absolutely the best part of the workout.
anyhoo. I did the eliptical for 10 mins then I went to upper body hell for EVER it really seemed like. Then I went back to the treadmill for about 10 mins. Tomorrow will probably be mostly cardio.

I learned something new yesterday! Do not have your protein drink and start exercising, ie, abdominal lounger, within 45 minutes. Not good when you have to run to the "white throne" the second you get off the exerciser!!!!!! My daughter explained to take in your protein AFTER you exercise.
Oh well, we live and learn.
Yeah, I've learned as well to not eat too much before working out. Your daughter is definitely right about taking protein after working out, especially with weight lifting and any exercising of your muscles as your muscles need protein to repair the fibers that get torn (that is how new muscle is built) and without the protein the soreness can get pretty bad. It will not make it nonexistent, but it will make the soreness tolerable.
