I have a question.... I have aurgery in 2 weeks and I have come down with a sinus infection. I am taking meds to get rid of it, so I am sure it will be cleared up in 2 weeks. I went to the doc and she checked my lungs, they are clear. Does anyone know if this will cause a problem with surgery?

I imagine that it won't be a problem.  But, if you are concerned, call your surgeon's office just to be sure.  An ounce of prevention is worth a whole pound of getting there that morning and having it cancelled!

I'm sorry you're feeling bad.   In most cases, I'd say that whatever you had would most likely be gone by the time you have surgery in 2 weeks time.   But if you actually have a sinus infection, they tend to be difficult to treat, and slow to clear up.

I'd call the surgeon's office and ask about the infection.   Some docs will operate on anybody who doesn't have a fever over 101, but not all.   You wouldn't want to spread the infection to your lungs.

If you are having sinus problems, may I suggest you have the doc do a swab checking for MRSA staph infection. This type of staph is running rampant in our part of the country and it takes two weeks of treatment to clear a colonization. I too had what I thought was a sinus infection, but turns out it was MRSA. The colonization shows up in the sinuses first. I showed positive before surgery and underwent the treatments for removal. The staph infection is only cleared up with one specialized type of antibiotic. Most antibiotics will not even touch it. While it is a very serious infection, there is treatment and in most cases can be cleared up with early treatment.. The infection is spread by sneezing,  caughing  and contact with someone else who has it.

Don't want to  scare you, but you want to be in good health before your operation. Worth checking out.

I got sick about two weeks before my surgery and was panicked!  If you still have an infection it might postpone your surgery...but that is for your safety.  Take your meds and you should be fine by time for surgery.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
