Well I'm home! Surgery was a sucesss and I'm on the losing side!. Surgery went with out a hitch Tuesday, Tuesday and Wednesday were spent in intensive care and I came home last night!

The trip thus far has been ok. The pain was and is very intense. Absolutely no nausea or sickness though. For this I'm very greateful. Lower back and hip pain is tremendious. Can't seem to get the relief I need!

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I'll fill in the gaps as I can.

CONGRATULATIONS RON!  Give it a few days and you will start to see a difference in the pain level.   I was surprised to have had some discomfort in my back.  I just attributed it to the bed in the hospital and my not being able to sleep on my side for a few days.   I really don't know the reason for it.

You have started the process to add some valuable years to your life and to improve the quality of the life you are living.  Hang in there.    Keep us posted!

Best wishes and best of luck to you too.

Goodness Cathy--everytime I look at your ticker I am tickled!!! You just had RNY on 2/9 & already almost 40 pounds in 2.5 weeks....I just imagine having that kind of success after my surgery on 3/17....our goals are similar...I am 5'8" & my goal weight is 155 (per the doc), but 145 in my head....congrats!! Micheala.

My tracker is tracking my weight loss from the highest weight I was when I first went to my Dr. to start my process for surgery.  I had lost 12 pounds since surgery on the day I changed my tracker.  The total altogether is what shows on my tracker.

Sorry for the confusion.  I am still doing great I think, but have kind of had a small stall for two or three days.  I have stayed the same without any real change in diet.  I am staying off the scale for a few days so that I don't stress over it.

I was 290 when I started....264 on the day of surgery and 252 when I changed the ticker a few days ago.

Well today has been pretty much uneventful so far. Got half my water in already! The pain in my lower back, butt and thighs is real bad. I can handle the soreness better than the lower pain when I lay down.  I get relief when I get up and start to move. I guess that's good to have that motivation. I do tire easily though.

I really feel better when up moving about in the house.

I guess this could be worse! I think I'll just make it after all! Just thankful for no nausea!

Congrats, Ron!! I am watching your progress (my surgery is 3/17) to see exactly how that post-surgery thing goes!!  Why were you in intensive care?  Keep movin'!  Hope the soreness gets better...Micheala.

Well, four days out and I'm doing well. The drain in my side is the biggest problem I have, The pain is now subsiding and I'm not near as sore.  Still very uncomfortable but everything is tolerable. Took my first protien drink (smarteforme ready mix) today. Went down well and hasn't created a problem so far. Been about an hour now.

My Doctor, Dr. Colquitt sends all his RNY patients to Medical ICU for the first day after surgery. They have nurses there that are especially trained for batiactrics. Second day out they moved me to a regular room on the surgery floor and I felt like an outcast, and forgotten, after all that special attention that I got in Medical ICU. I still miss those sugar free popsicles.

I'm dealing with a few new issues , but I think most are pain medicine related. I'm feeling like I'm going through menapause or something. Hot flashes with sweats, and then I'm freezing! I guess my hormones are changing. I was told they would.

I'm still very upbeat about me having the proceedure, I feel thourgh I'm blessed to have not suffered any of the horror stories that some have told. I know I'm not out of the woods yet, but I have a good mindset and I'm off and running.

If I could attribute any of my success so far to any one thing, it would be my mindset. I struggled for 3 years to get approved for the surgery. I had made up my mind that this was the single most important goal in my life. I was ready for it and I didn't give up. Now the rest is up to me. Will I take the wonderful oppertunity that has been given to me and move on to success and happiness, or will I give in to the obstacles and temptations and go back to the life that was?  NEVER!!!!

I ready for the new challenge, I'm have nothing back there in the past but pain and suffering, so why go back? I now have the rest of my life to change the past and I choose to be healthy and happy!

I choose the latter.  Thanks for all the replies, prayers and thoughts.
