I had my 4th fill on Wednesday.  Up until then I really hadn't felt any restriction.  Now I am discovering that is is very difficult to swallow liquids and soft foods with feeling uncomfortable.  I'm just wondering is this normal and will the pain go away.  I hope I do not have to  have to go back before my next appointment time.  Any feedback will be appreciated.  Thanks

Can't say if that is normal, but my guess it's not.  You may need to check with your Dr. or have a scope done, to make sure that the opening is enough for liquids and soft foods to pass.  Be on the safe side and talk to your Dr. or a GI Dr. about having the endoscopic procedure to dialate it enough to allow food and fluids to pass.  I haven't had the lapband procedure, but I know what it's like when fluids wouldn't even pass after having my throat cut to fix the disks in my neck last April.  Because I couldn't swallow even fluids, the pain was intense and I had to have my throat dialated.  Usually my GI Dr. would only have to stretch it about F5 in size, this time he had to go as high as F52.  It was a wonder I lived 6 weeks waiting for the swelling in my throat go away for the precedure.  Keeps us posted.  Praying that all will go well for you.

Its normal for you to have very slight difficulty for the first 12-24 hrs but not for several days.  If you cant get liquids down, or are having problems with them, then you definitely need to contact your dr that did  the fill.  Sounds like you need to have a bit of an unfill.  Ive had to have 3 unfills in the past year.  Just dont put it off.  call monday morning.  Sometimes this happens when you are getting close to your sweet spot so to speak, you may not require as much fill as previously.  so its a trial and error thing.   Good luck!!

Kim,
Thanks so much for the info.  I am taking very small sips of liquids now.  I guess that is what everyone talks about "baby sips".  I am doing ok on soft foods, yogart, soups, etc.  I tried to eat some minute steak today and it did not go down very smooth.  Strange though, the other day I ate just a small portion of rib eye steak and didn't have any problem.  I had to take very very small bites.  I think I am going to try to hang in there this week and try to get used to the smaller sips and bites.  After all, this is what it is all about isn't it.
Thanks,
