OK we established WLS is not easy, so for you what is the one or two most challenging aspects.
For me its still slowing down my eating, its greatly improved but I still need to really be aware and watch the clock.
How about you?

Mine is trying to stay away from sweets.  Lately my body is craving them like crazy.  Not being able to work out with an IV hooked to me.  So too much sitting isn't helping matters.  No this WLS isn't the easy way out, every day is a challenge and a constant reminder of what we need to do to stay healthy.  I am guilty of eating too fast too, hiccups aren't good either, they cause me pain when I eat too much.

For me its been the endo's because of my opening closing up occasionally. Plus the ulcer that developed after surgery.  It will get better with time!

Beth, I keep crackers with me at all times.  Being on chemo meds, makes me really queasy.  Whenever I have to be gone for a while, I always make up some peanut butter crackers, one to keep my sugar up, the other to settle my tummy.  But that's the only time I eat them.  My problem is the halloween candy at the moment.  I love the peanut butter kisses.  Having no teeth yet, they help toughen my gums, and I don't get sick from them, but then I only eat about 3 per day.  But they are my weakness. Right now my number 1 challenge is actually 2 things: Boredom and disappointment in myself.  I graze when I am bored and I have been bored a lot for the last 3 months, but hopefully with PT and water aerobics starting this week, that will help.  I am disappointed in myself that I have lost only about 12 pounds in 3 months.  I had hoped to be at goal by now, but I am working on that as well.  I really am learning a lot from that book, "It Ain't Over til the Thin Lady Sings".  The lady that wrote it had WLS and is an addictions counselor.  It's not an easy book to read because for it to help, I actually have to do some WORK! Not physical, emotional.  But, it is another really good tool for me.

Remaining positive in the light of all this negativity!!!!!!!

These smileys represent what I am feeling in the light of our present situation.  That is the most challenging aspect of my WLS!!!!!

my biggest challenge is the urge to "Graze"   I am not hungry often, I eat my meals when I should, but still want to nibble on things throughout the day.   Usually happens more when I am home than at work.
I work hard to avoid it, by not having thing around that I like----chocolate, crackers, etc.
But I do try to keep healthy, protein rich snacks around if I actually get hungry---nuts, protein bars (these usually help with protein and a chocolate craving--I limit myself to one/day if that) or I have a SF pudding or cup of protein broth (Injury Chicken soup).

A constant stuggle,
Sherry

Exercising and seeing all of this Halloween candy out right now!!!! I'd slap someone for some tootsie rolls and a piece of cake right about now.
