Walk from Obesity

I just wanted to post my thoughts on the Walk. This was my first time involved with any type of Walk, so I didn't have a clue as what to expect.  I mean I had heard of these types of things, but didn't have a clue as to how it happened. Once I started going to the board meetings and hearing everyone talk about all the things that would take place, I don't mind telling you I was a bit overwhelmed with it all. As the meetings went on, I was able to see what was going to happen. Started seeing the items come in for the goody bags. Getting emails from people that said I want to help....what can I do. Getting checks in the mail. We did have a few bumps in the road when we didn't get donations from some of the large companies. We just started worker even harder, and donations started coming in, people that had registered, really got people behind them for donations.

I want to thank everyone/anyone that played any part at all in the Walk. It could not have been such a great success without each one of you. Especially our wonderful Chairperson Shelia, she guided us in the right direction with all the decsions that we as a board was able to make. She is a great delegator (sp)..........lol. We are still working on the exact figures, but it was a major success. Once we have the number's in we will post them.

I want to thank the Lunch Bunch team, I think we looked mighty fine in our awesome t-shirts. I wish that I could have been able to walk the whole way that ya'll did, but I know ya'll understand.

I also wanted to congratulate (sp) Sherry Miller from the Lunch Bunch team and a friend of her's they were the 1st ones to come accross the finish line. You girls rocked!!!!!!!!!!!

This year was awesome, which means next year has the potential to be even better. So keep watching the board for information on being on the Walk board for next year. If anyone has any ideas of new things or if you know of a person/company that can help out, or if you seen something that we could have done different, please let us know.

Thanks Cheryl,  It was great to have you there to cheer us one.  The friend you mentioned is someone from KY, that I had meet about 100feet prior to finishing that first mile.   I didn't even get her name.  If you see this post, Thanks for finishing strong with me.

Cheryl, I wanted to say how proud I was of you for attempting the walk.  You are a brave and determined soul who will make your goals come true.   Thanks also for being there all morning to help with registration.
Great Job to everyone else as well, it was a wonderful event.  GLad I have the opportunity to take part this year.
