Did you have hair loss after your surgery?  When I think of hair loss, I think of spots of hair falling out!!!  Are there any hair products that you can use to help with the hair loss after surgery?   I would welcome your comments on this matter.....

I suffer from this disasterous side effect!  To combat it, I am taking 2000-3000 units of Biotin daily.  I take the Vitamin SHoppe brand, sub-lingual (under the tongue).  It has slowed down some, but I am constantly picking hair out of the drain. I have upped my protein intake, and that did not seem to affect it at all.  Good luck in your journey. The Biotin made a difference for me.  My hair started falling out about month 4 but was never really noticable....the hair loss stopped once I started taking the biotin.  Also make sure to keep your protein intake up....

My hair loss started about 3-4 mo post-op. It is more like loose hairs "scattered" around the sink and on the floor. My hair was very thick to start with, so the thinning is not very noticeable. Prior to the surgery, I had very naturally curly hair--within a month-- I had no curl at all. No one has been able to explain that one. Good luck on your journey.

I am currently dealing with the hairloss right now. Its not really that bad, its not falling out in spots, its just thinning. I am upping my protein everyday.

The affect of hair changing from curls to straight has to do with the hormones. Mine was always natural curl, natural wave, and natural frizz.  Most of the curl and wave is gone. It's more straight with just some frizz.  I went from one hour to blow dry to 2 minutes to dry. Now I'm back to 20 minutes. My hair is soft and shiny like a baby's hair.  It's very fine.  But as mine is growing back in it's getting thicker in some areas.  But don't go by my hair loss and regrowth, I am on chemo so mine is slightly different.  But plenty of protein will help it, and slow it down from losing it all.  Mostly it's just the top that really thins out.  Mine was too thick, so I enjoy having it a little thinnerWish I had known about this other thing that starts with a B.  Hormones does plan an important part of the texure.  As for downstairs, mine came back in white, like I was born a towhead.  I don't have to shave my armpits, and only 3 swipes up the front of my legs about once a month.  I always did hate shaving.  LOL

Hi Kathy, Losing my hair has just been something that has really bothered me.  I have felt like all my life the one thing I have had going for me is my hair.  I don't have very many people compliment me and say that "I" am pretty.  However, they would always compliment me on how pretty, very thick, and shiny my "hair" always is.  I have been growing my hair for over three years and it is past my shoulders...my hair grows very slowly.  I just worry about what it might begin to look like.  Thanks again

Hi, don't borrow trouble.  It will start to thin out around 3-6 months out.  But it does grow back, just make sure you get in plenty of protein.  I've known some *****lished having their hair a little thinner.  I know I did, if it's all one length and half way down my back, migrain city from the weight. Now it's almost to the end of my shoulder blades, and because it thinned out some, I don't have to keep it layered.  Before I couldn't tie it up as it was too thick and heavy, then it wouldn't stay up when it became too thin.  Now it's just right.  It needs a major trim, but otherwise it's all growing back in and the natural blond is coming out more white then sandy brown.  Even the hair on my arms and legs is coming back in white like when I was born.  Think positive.  You'll be fine.  I know our hair is our crowning glory.  So do everything possible to make sure you get in plenty of protein, and less worry.

Yes, this became an issue for me almost 4 months out on May 3 and it has continued ever since.  I started taking Biotin a few weeks after surgery and have taken it ever since, but just recently upped my dosage to 2 capsules a day.  I have also really increased my protein, but am not noticing much of a difference.  My hair was relatively thick, but it is getting rather thin now.  The texture of it has changed and it is not as wavy as before.  The funny thing is, I've noticed a change in all the hair growth on my body.  I don't have to shave my legs quite as often and the regrowth is very spotty, same for the underarms.  Just the other day, I noticed the hair in the "netherworld" has totally changed as well.  Go figure how this all works.  It has now been about 6 weeks since my last haircut and I still don't need one at this point.  Hang in there, I'm told my many that this will get better and one day you realize you have new hair growth but this is about a 1 year long process.

My hair started thinning at around month 6 or 7. I have been wearing weave for a year now and it has grown back a lot. I had very curly and soft hair before but it is straighter now.The hair on the rest of my body has changed also. I hardly have any anywhere else and it is really soft. I wax or shave about every 5 weeks.
