I want to thank all of you *****sponded with support to my post about TennCare. I can't tell you how much it meant to me. I want to say that the person who sent me the pm about this wrote again and apologized and said after further research realized she was wrong. I feel very relieved and I wanted to let you know that things are okay now. I can't tell you how worried I was about being reported for something I didn't know was wrong and losing my coverage when I have so many health problems. I can only hope that whatever happens next with TennCare, I wont get cut off. Surgery or no, I can't afford adequate health care without it. Anyway, thanks again. You all are much appreciated. Karen

Karen if these insurance companies would only realize how many health issues are CURED by WLS. How much money they will save now, plus in the future as your health problems increase. Your med's increase they would see not only is it better for the patient but for their bottom line. Let's face it they pay pennies on the dollar for WLS compared to out of pocket customers. Hang in there Karen. C'ya Bob

Thanks, Bob. I think some are beginning to realize it but there is almost a panic now with the economy so bad and Bredesen is panicking and making cuts everywhere. I hope we all come through it safely. Blessings, Karen

I agree with you Bob. I don't understand why this surgery is excluded from most insurance policies. Yes, it is an expensive surgery but I added up the cost that was spent (by my insurance) just the one year before I had my surgery just going to the Drs and having tests run and it was a lot more than the surgery itself. Since I  have had this surgery and got more healthier, I do not go to the Drs ever (with the pregnancy exception). Where I was going at least once every 3 months before if not more because of all the health problems. So, if insurance companies thought about that and actually weighed the cost it is for someone with health problems going to the Drs as opposed to a one time surgery fee and that would prevent a lot of Drs appointments and tests, they would come out better in the long run. Ridiculous that it is excluded since in most cases it is medically necessary and can help tremendously. Karen, I hope they don't do the cuts to TennCare also. Especially since they are cutting funding the the local Nashville Hospitals (like Mercy General) who provide care to people without adequate health insurance. What do they expect people to do? Geez. Praying for you. As far as the fraud thing- I don't have much to say except we are very supportive here and that was not necessary for someone to say anything to you when they don't know the whole story about your personal business and they weren't asked for their opinions about it. You should never feel like you have to explain yourself. I am glad the person apologized (although saying it was after researching it is crazy since they shouldn't be researching something that has nothing to do with them) and I hope you know we are all here for you. Keep pushing forward on your journey!
