Good evening! Just got home from the grocery store... as always, saved with my Kroger Plus card and had coupons too... $38 worth! Oh how I love a deal... of course we were there for an hour and a half.. looking at sales, food labels, etc. Gotta read those food labels! And its easy to be tricked. It's that time again. Time to discuss our food choices for the day. I will lead in saying that I want to lose a few lbs this week so I am watching everything that goes in my mouth. Did pretty well today. I think I had let things get just a little out of control. Not in the food choice itself, because I don't let garbage into the house. But, I was eating a few snacks in my day that were good for me, just those extra calories so I am regrouping. Early Morning Get My Metabolism Going Protein Chocolate Matrix with a little Syntha Moccachino Breakfast of Gastric Champions Nectar Cappuccino Coffee Lunch Chicken salad I had leftover from last night's supper Sugar Free cherry Jello Afternoon Protein to Keep the Munchies Away 1/4 Protein bar Supper Chicken breast, salad After supper I stopped in at GNC to get some grape New Whey bullets... bought a case of peanut butter quadruple Supreme Protein! Opened it, took a bite and oh my heavens! Tastes so good! Tim said it was great too.  While I was there, a guy was looking for protein bars and started a low carb diet. I gave him some pointers and then the guy behind the register asked if I wanted a job.  Hmmm wonder what the employee discount is!?! And, LOTS & LOTS OF CRYSTAL LITE FLAVORED DRINKS! Working on upping the liquid intake! Not to mention my Bariatric Advantage Calcium, multi vitamin, sublingual b12 and later my iron tablet.

I just had my lap band May 5 and saw where you were talking about the grape whey bullets.  I can't remember what the bullets are full.  Also, I picked up some protein powder.  Any suggestions on what to mix it with.  All this stuff is so new to me I hope I can become as careful with my diet as you guys seem to.  I am still on the puree diet.  Not having any problems so far.  I went in for a check up today and all is good.  The nurse said I could gradually introduce myself to new foods a little at a time to see how I can tolerate them as long as I chew, chew and chew some more.  All the help and advice is appreciated!  Thanks. grumpy makes me happy

Good to hear that you are doing well!  What kind of protein powder did you purchase?  What flavor, vanilla, chocolate?  After we find out what you bought, we can try to get you some ideas. I like the grape whey bullets.  I tried the fruit punch, its good too.  I have blue rasberry but not tried with any flavored crystal lite.  YET. lol.  But, I know already I will not be trying orange.  I had to have a glucose tolerance test one time and that stuff was so nasty.  I can hardly stomach orange flavored drinks anymore.  I tried Cytosport and it makes me kinda want to gag after 4 oz of it.  And that's diluted with water!  *Someone recently told me that when it comes to the "What Did U Eat 2Day?" thread, they don't know what we are talking about when it comes to shakes.  If anyone ever wonders, 'what the heck is THAT?' please ask...  I guess we have our own little bariatricese language!?  But we are always willing (well ok, not always...) to share our "secrets".  Well ok, I admit, sometimes it pains me to have to give away all of my dealers, I mean my suppliers names as to where to get it locally! lol

I bought the unflavored soy protein.  Hope that's the right kind.  I haven't opened it yet so I can still return it  if I need too.

I've never seen or tried an unflavored Soy protein so can't comment on the one you have. If you are wanting an unflavored one though that can be added to any food, warm or cold, I can (and do) recommend Any Whey. Many of the "unflavored" protein powders tend to have a nasty aftertaste. Any Whey is truly flavorless and does well in warm foods. With any protein powder, you want to make sure you don't "shock" it with food or liquid that is too hot. You first need to make a paste by adding a little bit of cold liquid to the protein powder and then introduce the warm food/liquid. A good rule of thumb is nothing hotter than coffee from a drip coffee maker. Any hotter than that and the protein will clump into a nasty mess that even the dog won't touch. If you want to see some of the recipes we have found or concocted on our own, check out Melinda's website, recoveringfatty.com.; or Scott's blog (the link to his is in his signature line) They have posted shake recipes and product list along with where to purchase.
