My hair has been looking rough lately, I must admit. A few weeks ago, I tried to lighten it and instead of becoming blonde it turned red. I've been meaning to do something about it but you know how it is. Today, I mentioned to my daughter that I needed a haircut. She said she just got some new clippers and she would be happy to trim it up for me. I said "okay." I noticed there was an awful lot of hair falling around me but was unconcerned. She kept saying, "just let me even it up." I sat and let it happen. Now, the end result is that my hair is a red burr cut. My husband was unimpressed. He probably wont take me out in public for a long while. This short hair, along with my lifelong lack of boobage, makes me look very butch. My husband's comment was, "At least I wont have to worry about other guy****ting on you."  I, myself, am choosing to see it in a positive light. Living through this will probably prepare me for after surgery when my hair falls out. If any of you are interested in seeing the damage, check my profile later tomorrow. I'll try to post a pic. One more day in the life of Karen The photo has now been uploaded onto my profile. Viewer beware!

I know. I hope my post didn't make me sound angry. I am finding a good deal of humor in the situation. I'm really not at all vain about my appearance but I thought it would be fun to post about it. The truth is I've been threatening to shave my head for years. I hate bothering with it. It is thin and fine and I can never do anything with it. While it is growing back, I have a hat I can wear to my daughter's baby shower tomorrow night. Don't want to freak out the ex inlaws. Blessings, Karen

No, actually the reason I made light of it is because I thought that you were seeing the humor in it all.  I didn't feel that you sounded angry. darlene

Thanks. I was just concerned that my post didn't come across as I intended. It pays to have a sense of humor in my family. I do plan to make my hair blonde though. I bought some stuff this time that is guaranteed to make blonde out of any hair color. If it is successful I might post another pic.  Blessings, Karen

Karen, First, is your daughter still with us? Second, I wonder, if getting enough protein keeps your hair from falling out, then will a lot of protein make it grow faster? Just some thoughts... BTW, did today's fires get near ya'll?  We live on Shields Mountain, but so far so good! Marilyn

Karen, first of all...loss of hair is not really a bad thing.  Remember..."Bald Is Beautiful"!!!!  Secondly, let me share a story of attitude!

Attitude There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

'Well,' she said, 'I think I'll braid my hair today.'

So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head

H-M-M,' she said,’ I think I'll part my hair down the middle today.'So she did and she had a grand day.   The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

Well,' she said, 'today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail.' So she did, and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed

that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

YAY!' she exclaimed. 'I don't have to fix my hair today!'

Good Luck, for some reason I don't think the extra protein will make it grow back quicker.  It didn't work for me! Have a great day!

You know, nothing would please me more than for bald women to be socially acceptable. As I wrote to another friend *****sponded to this post, I've been threatening to shave my head for years. I've never had that beautiful head of hair that some women enjoy. It has always been a hassle to "do" something with it. However, I don't think the world is ready for my current style. Do you? IN spite of this though, I do intend to do something to make it blonde again. I don't really have the temperament to be a redhead. LOL BLessings, Karen

Ok, not to bust anyone's bubble or criticize, but my hair began falling out on Saturday - in spite of getting in a good quantity of protein.  Let me just say, this is very devastating to me.  For women, their hair is their "crowning glory" and to begin losing a handful of hair everyday is a traumatic experience.  I know getting a bad haircut is different - your hair will grow back and probably quite quickly.  However, when your hair is falling out by the handfuls, it doesn't grow back quickly and this phase lasts for quite a few months. So, good luck with your hair growing back, I know it will go fast for you and before long it will be back to what you know before long.  To help it out, you might consider getting some Biotin (Wal-Mart).  It is great for hair and nails.
