New Goal
Ok, so I have a new goal that I'm striving for. When I was in high school anytime I wanted to lose weight, I always went on some weird diet, i.e. turnip greens and boiled eggs only, and I would usually run and do 500 - 1,000 situps a day. There is only 1/3 of that equation that I actually enjoyed and it was running. I felt free when I ran and actually felt out of sorts when I didn't run. Anyway, as my weight climbed, it obviously got more and more difficult to run and I haven't run in a very long time. I have always been intrigued with 1/2 marathons and marathons and have dreamed of running in one at some point and time in my life. Well, guess what, the point and time as come. It is my goal to be able to run in the 1/2 marathon for the Music City Marathon in April 2009. Now, I know that is a year away, but I will have to spend approximately 6 months in training to be able to do this. My pastor, his wife, their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter are running in it this year and have invited me to join them in their training program they will start in October for the 2009 marathon.
So, I would ask you to keep me in your prayers as I begin preparing for this. I will have to gain more strength all over and lose quite a bit more weight. I want to stay focused on this and fulfill this goal. Even if it takes me all day to complete the 1/2 marathon, this is something I truly want to do. Thanks.
You go girl! I know you can do it. We may even have to have a contingent of WLS peeps to cheer you on and greet you at the finish line.

LOL. Yes we can be there to carry you off the field. But somehow I doubt that you will need it! That is just awesome. I have always had a secret dream of being able to run. I always had excuses though. I was too fat. My boobs were too big. Then got the boobs cut off. Then I was still too fat. Now, I don't have either one to rely on. So ... before I get myself into trouble, I will hush about that! lol. Before I commit to joining the marathon next year too. Or have someone volunteer me.
Thats great. That is a goal of mine too! Actually, I started jogging this past year and completed my 1st 5k marathon (The Susan G Komen 5k) jogging the whole way one month before I found out I was preggers. It was one of my proudest moments since WLS. I actually could not believe how much I enjoyed training for it and how much I like jogging. I was hoping to be in the 1/2 marathon this year but that obviously did not work out. I really want to get back into that after I have the baby. I think if I recover soon enough, I will start training agian and do the same 5K agian (I believe it is in October). And, if you want and anyone else wants, maybe we could jog/train together. We could always get together for the lunch bunch and then afterwards, go somewhere and jog together. Or even more often if we could.
I know you can do it if you have your mind set to it and it is a great goal to have.
