Hi Misti, Thanks for those great ideas. I will try all of them, they sound really good. I have followed evrything to a tee and I think I got tunnel vision and really forgot that I could use a few more condiments and spices to my diet at this stage. Thanks A Bunch, Stacy

Yeah, don't forget the condiments! I don't think there is any spice (except sugar of course) that you can not use. So, use them. I used garlic powder, oregano, paprika, lots of pepper. Just about anything to spice up food. You can use all the mustard you want but make sure you try the light mayo. The fat and calories will get you if use the regular stuff.   A couple more ideas I thought of. At your stage, you should be able to heat up an all beef or turkey hot dog and it be soft enough to digest. You can use relish (check the sugar on it) and mustard/mayo and cheese for that too (no bread of course).  That has a lot of protein in it (but I would stick to all beef or turkey). You can do cream of wheat (blah!). I liked the instant oatmeal. My favorite is Apples and Cinnamon in the great value (walmart) brand. Though, that may be too much sugar for you at your stage but there are other lower sugar oatmeals out there if you don't like the cream of wheat.  Check out bariatriceating.com. They have a recipe section and you can look at the pureed/soft stage recipes.

You can also have chili. Wendy's chili is pretty high in protein and easy to eat. In the beginning I would put the whole container in the blender to break it up more and then reheat only what I thought I could eat. By 6 weeks I could chew it well enough without blending it. I also make chili at home about once every 2 weeks. This is still a comfort food for me along with the refried beans & cheese.

The one I use is super simple. 2 lbs lean ground beef. (I use the Laura's 92% lean beef) You can also use ground turkey if you prefer. 1 pkg Wick Fowler's 2-Alarm Chili Kit. I use everything but the red pepper packet. 16 oz can petite diced tomatoes 8 oz can tomato sauce 16 oz can beef broth Brown the ground beef and drain any fat (There isn't usually anything to drain with the 92% lean beef). Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth and seasoning packets as listed in pkg directions. Save the Masa packet to add later. Cook according to package directions adding Masa near end. Sometimes I add 2 cans of beans to this. I use kidney, pinto or black beans depending on my mood.  Also, because I use such lean beef, I will sometimes put the beef broth in with the meat and kind of stew the meat instead of browning it. Of course, if you do this you would not drain anything off. You can also use water for this stage and then drain the water and any accumulated fat. This makes for a finer chili that is actually easier on the pouch in the beginning. Add the toppings of your choice to each serving. I like to add cheese & sour cream.

Someone might have said these already: 2 or 3 turkey meatballs, a little bit of low sugar spaghetti sauce, shredded cheese for a pastaLESS spaghetti with meatballs You could add some ricotta cheese and make lasagna if you wanted Take a piece of deli meat and roll it in sliced cheese.  Boar's Head is great!  You can put mustard or fat free salad dressing/mayo on it...  these are good "sandwiches" without bread.  Not sure if you like yogurt, but I liked adding ice and a little water to a Strawberry Carbmasters and blend for a smoothie... These were good...  you might be sick of yogurt at this point though!

Stacy Tell mom I said hello, and we have not heard from her on the board in SOME TIME... !!  I used to love those turkey meatballs...  then got sick of them....  then I learned about how you can take pepperoni (the large Boar's Head) and wrap it around a mozarella stick... heat in microwave and dip in low sugar spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce is low sugar too, the kroger kind... 99 cents. You can do it with turkey pepperoni, but you surely can't wrap one of those tiny hormel turkey pepperonies around an entire cheesestick!!!I   I would like to see that!  lol But, you can trim the cheese stick down. At this point, 6 pepperoni and one cheesestick could be 4 meals! lol
