1 Week Soda Free
So, I've made it one week no sodas... wooo hooo! I really don't miss it. The only time I craved it was watching a movie one night and eating popcorn. It's all mental I suppose but I just thought I need soda with popcorn. But, I resisted and drank my tea w/ fake sugar and was content.
So, I have a question about Splenda and/or knock off's. Someone at work told me the other day that they can be just as bad for a diabetic as regular sugar. Anyone heard anything like that? I tell you I didn't like that sound of that at all! I've grown quite accustomed to my fake sugar. Tea w/ the fake sugar has been my saving grace to get off sodas.
Oh and thanks everyone for the water flavor suggestions! They are awesome! The "early rise" orange was great! I had one by Hawaiin Tropic that was lemon berry and reminded me of Sonic's Cherry Limeade and I love those. It makes water drinking so much easier.
I go Monday for my consultation with Dr. Houston. I'm so very excited! I started making out a list of questions and have 30 so far LOL So, I should be able to tell you all when my surgery date is on Monday. I have a dentist appointment for fillings right before I go meet Dr. Houston. But, he's probably used to women drooling around him huh? LOL
OK so I have a really "cheesy" joke for you all. It's an old joke but...
What what do you call someone else's cheese?
Na-cho cheese!
Have a blessed weekend everyone!
I gradually weened myself off of them. So, it wasn't that bad. I just made myself drink something other than soda and limited my soda intake. I love sweet tea so that's what I substituted for soda. I didn't know if I could do it. Well, yeah... I did because I'm that hard headed LOL And, I guess I just started convincing myself that I would be OK if I gave up soda. I wouldn't die... heck, I'd be healthier and isn't that what I'm shooting for?!
You can do it! Just take baby steps...
Congrats on a week of no sodas! Last June, after my first appt. w/ Dr. Spaw, when I knew that was going to be part of my new lifestyle, I started right then weaning myself off of them, knowing that if I continued to drink them right up until surgery, it would be much harder to quit cold-turkey after surgery. It probably took me about 3 weeks or so to totally get off of them, but I have been "carbonation/coke"-free for 10 months!
I'm proud of you for taking care of yourself and eliminating this "vice" early - before you even have a surgery date! You GO, girl!

That is awesome. I too was a huge soda drinker, I couldn't get enough. I started giving them up once I started going to the WLS seminars. I didn't think I could ever do without them, but like you said I'm still alive. Glad you found a flavor to mix with your water. I too love that Early Sunrise, I use to be a huge Sunny "D" drinker, so I love my "sub" for that. Keep up the good work, you are doing great. Be sure to post us with your surgery date.
