Jan, Honestly, I will admit that at 6 months postop, I cannot remember how big your pouch is...  But don't worry.  Hiccups say two things: either you have ****aten too fast or (2) you are full. I get the hiccups when I am full.  I don't hear many people who say this, but have heard of a few.  And, I know its not due to eating too fast...  I have eaten slow slow slow and it still happened once I took that one bite too many...  Are you afraid that you have stretched your pouch?  It is very important to listen to your body.  When you eat slow, pay close attention to what your tummy says.  Ask yourself, am I full? Stop eating before you get the hiccups...  try to learn the stopping point, where the "boundary line" is so to speak, and stop before you get to it... Kinda like that old saying "here's the line; don't cross it." lol That was one of the hardest things for me after surgery... learning when I was really full.   Before surgery, I became very cognizant of that question:  "How do I know when I am full?" But no one could tell me that... I found that I was eating out of head knowledge of what a normal meal "should" consist of... a meat, two vegs, drink, dessert.  (Preop)  Or when my plate was cleaned off.  But now, those rules no longer apply.   We learn the new rules by listening and paying attention to what our bodies tell us....

Jan Sounds like you are very cognizant of your pouch... getting in touch with "when the pouch is full" or had enough...  the reason I ask if you are afraid that you are stretching your pouch is because this is a very normal response...  kind of like when you have a baby and bring it home from the hospital, carry it around very very carefully so you don't break him or her! LOL... AS IF I KNOW what that's like -- NOT!!!  LOL.... coming from someone who never had kids, haha. Anyway, on with my little story...  its just that natural instinct within us as wls patients to be cautious not to "stretch", "bend", or "break" antyhing that the surgeons did.  After all, how much did our surgery cost?  A lot!  I think you will be fine as long as you continue listening to the pouchy!  I think at your stage, the pouch might hold 2 to 4 oz of food...  ANYONE ELSE KNOW FOR SURE?  Grasping for straws here...  but no more than 1/2 cup at this point, I do not believe...  I could be wrong.  Take care!
