I rearly post, but I have to know....
Are you on your period? Are you near your period?
Are you bored?
Are you getting in enough protein?
I noticed that I was wanting something in the afternoons at work. So I added an afternoon protein drink between lunch and supper. It killed the crave.
I was bored. So I started drinking more at my desk. Killed that crave too.
Now when I am on my period, I up protein, can't eat much cause my tummy hurts a lot, but still I swell/bloat and feel like my stomach is gonna explode. But I still want salt/sweet. A few tblsp of nut mixtures (peanuts, almonds, macadamia, pecans, cashews) and a few sugar free zannies (m&ms) helps cut that crave.
Just some ideas...
Hey girl,
Sure have missed you!!!! Hope all is well. I've had grazing issues, but guess mine would be for different reasons!! lol I think Melinda is probably right. You just need to figure out what it is you are craving and find a suitable substitute. Maybe increasing your protein as well. Melinda's got all kinds of nifty little healthy substitutes for all your crazy cravings!! Good luck and hope to see you soon!!! ~~Elena

Have you tried the Kay's Naturals pretzels? They are good. The one good thing about them is that they are in good portion sizes... but I do not ever allow myself to eat an entire small individual size bag. I will only eat 5 at a time... 6 if I must. It's a very self controlled thing with me... but if you should allow yourself a treat like this, its still low in carbs and sugars and calories, that if you eat the entire bag, its still ok as a very occasional treat or indulgence.
As for the nuts, I was telling Tywanna that I make my own trail mix. I recently took an Atkins coconut chocolate protein bar, sliced into tiny teeny pieces, and added to almonds (which that right there is an almond joy bar!), peanuts, pecans, macadamias, and you dont have to add an unsweetened coconut or sugar free chocolate or feel guilty cause its a protein bar... and you won't want to eat a lot of nuts... just about 2 tblsp. It is salty and sweet.
If you want spicy with it, add some of those red spicy peanuts... you can get those in the line at publix as you are checking out for 99 cents a bag, already shelled and seasoned. Or Kay's Naturals has some jalapeno flavored items... as does Revival Soy protein chips.
Bariatric Eating sells these, so does Netrition.
If you want crackers, you can use some cucumbers, or use some red peppers to scoop up your hummus or other dip. I like to use Kay's Natural White Cheddar Kruncheez to eat with my tuna or chicken salad. You can crumble them up in your soup like crackers. Or, you can also crumble them on your salad for croutons. They are good... I like this flavor and they are a good consistency texture for this...
I have heard, but have not tried, that Genisoy has a great nacho chip. I saw it on Netrition and a guy from bariatric eating gave it a great review. They are a few dollars a bag. I have tried Genisoy crispers but did not care for them at all.
Paula (PDSmile) introduced me to Snyder's of Hanover Soy crisps from Publix. They are thin and remind me of the way the potato waffle fries look from ChickFilA. They are great for scooping stuff in like crackers...
If there is something particular you have a crave for, let me know and I will try to find something or maybe I already have one.
