Pregnancy progress

I went for an ultrasound a week and a half ago and the baby was estimated to be 4lb 6oz, in the 24th percentile.  About where my OB expected (estimating around 6lbs at birth).  Well, went this morning for another u/s and he is estimated at 5lb 7oz (that's where those 2 pounds came from!), but this dropped him to the 16th percentile.  OB said that is still fine, no concerns unless he gets below the 5th percentile or has no growth.     Anyway, had the swab done to check for group B strep and he checked my cervix.  Nothing last monday, but this morning I am 1.5cm dilated and 80% effaced.  Cervix is anterior (that's good) and he could feel the baby's head.  He was very surprised he could feel the baby and that he is that low for a first pregnancy.  I knew he was low, cuz my groin is in agony and I have to pee every 20 mins (his head is right on my bladder).  I also knew the pains I had this past weekend were different than what I had been feeling before.  So, that is why I wasn't at the luncheon on Saturday.  I was just really tired and hurting.  Wish I could have been there, especially since I more than likely will not be at next months!  Sure missed everyone.  Guess I could go at any time; but you know how that goes.  I could stay at 1.5cm for two weeks and nothing!!!  But I am having pains that are pretty strong, but they are not regular by any means.   So far it doesn't look like anyone is going to be able to make it to my shower on Saturday.    Guess it wasn't a good weekend to choose!  If anyone is planning on coming, pm me and I'll pm you the directions to my house.  And I can let you know who to RSVP to.     That's it for now.  Will keep you posted with the progress.  ~~Elena

Hi Elena! Sounds like you are definitely making progress!! I started effacing at 28 weeks and still ended up having to be induced. I hope you get to go naturally! You're little guy sounds like he is doing great growth wise :-) My last ultrasound was a week and a half before I was induced, Nick measured 7lbs 11oz...he was born 6lbs 11oz! I had to go out and buy newborn clothes when he got home b/c none of his 0-3 month stuff fit! Keep a close eye on your pains and rest as much as possible. I got your baby shower invitation Saturday. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend but I'm sure it will turn out great. I thought no one would show for my shower except for my immediate family...but I ended up having a houseful of people. You never know :-) Not much longer!  Take care of yourself! April

Hey April,   Had a trial run yesterday.  Thought I might be leaking fluid, but it wasn't!  They did monitor me for a couple hours and I'm having contractions, just not the kind that did any changes to my cervix.   I have a feeling I'm also going to have to get some "premie" clothes.  All the newborn and 0/3 months ones look so big! I'm sorry you won't be able to make it tomorrow, but I understand.  It looks like only a few people will be here.  I don't have family here in TN, so co-workers and this board is about it!  Oh well, that's life I guess.   I went ahead and started my maternity leave this week.  With the contractions and just feeling very sore and "full", I couldn't see doing 12-hr shifts on my feet.  So, I'm doing the stay-at-home thing and we are hoping to continue it (at least for a year).  Guess we'll have to see how the finances go!  Isn't that always the case?   Hope you and Nicholas are doing well and hope to see you soon!   ~~Elena

Elena, I was wondering if we are still on for May 9th?  You remember, that is my birthday so I will be thinking of you that day, and saying "You come on out of there, baby!  Come on, baby!  May 9th, May 9th, come on !" Oh wait, I am practicing for my Tunica trip...  "Come on #9, come on, come on!" at the table where that little ball falls on a number...  LOL Hope you are feeling ok...  will someone keep us posted when you go into labor?

Hey Melinda,   Not sure if I'm going to make it to May 9.  Feels like it may happen sooner, but you never know!  My maternal grandma's b-day is 4/15, my paternal grandfather's was 4/16, a friends is 4/23, a cousin's is 5/1 and your's on the 9th.  I'm sorta shooting for closer than the 9th (I'm feeling ready now, sorry)!!!!!    I have Shelia's numbers in my cell phone, so I'll give her a call when the big event occurs and I'm sure she'll post all the details.   When are you going to Tunica?  Marie's going to Vegas!  And I'm going to Baptist hospital!!  hmmm, sounds like you guys will be having much more fun than I!!  lol    Take care ~~Elena
