Need some support about plateaus, especially right after surgery
Actually, muscle doesn't weigh more than fat. I don't want to sound like a know-it-all, but before my heart attacks, I was part owner of a family gym and an ISSA certified personal trainer, so I know a little bit about this subject.
A pound is a pound, regardless of whether it is fat or muscle. Muscle is much denser than fat, however. That is why some of the bodybuilders may actually weigh a lot more than you would think they do - they have tremendous muscle mass and very little bodyfat.
Another thing to remember is that adding muscle actually increases one's metabolism and burns more fuel, which is what fat really is - stored fuel for the body. One way to look at overweight or obese people is that our body has become too efficient at storing fuel, aka fat. Exercise helps traain or re-train the body to become more efficient at burning fuel, aka fat.
Whenever there is a fast loss of body fat and weight, it is a shock to the body. The body has to re-program and adjust itself. That is what a plateau is - a time in which your body is adjusting.
I could go on about all this, but I'll shut up for now.

Sharon,
Your body is protesting because it thinks you are starving it to death. When your body gets used to the calorie intake you have changed to it will readjust. Just don't give up and keep doing what you are doing. As long as you continue to follow your plan you will begin to lose again. Just hang in there girl.
