Hey...I found out my results of my 6 mo labs.
My Vit D is low. I stoped by the store and picked up Vit D 2000u and started it today after talking with my PCP and my nut.
Have any of you experienced this? If so do you have any wisdom to share?
Thanks in advance for any input!

Betsy, Mine is a little low too, my PCP is gonna put me on a prescription if it is still low next blood test, she also is testing me for LUPUS, I have fibro, Chronic fatigue and more, but there are some other things going on so we are checking for that now.  Just take the vit D that you bought and it should help bring it up, I take it daily just not enough I guess I am just a few points lower then my PCP would like.  Hang in there it should come up... hugs Annrenee

Thanks so much Annrenee!
I actually spoke with your PCP when I saw my PCP...I had to stop and tell her how fabulous she looks!! She said she has 8 patients who have had WLS. She said her Vit D is low and she takes Vit D that has to be ordered by a doctor. I mentioned you and that you and I email and talk.
I hope you are able to find out what is going on...at least you will have the answers you need to know what to do to make it better.
Thanks again for the encouragement!!
I really appreciate it!
HUGS

I've been experiencing some chronic fatigue as well.  I wonder why? Could it be my vitamin levels? It's been simply bothersome.  On top of that, I've been having some uncomfortable pressure from my stomach and sides, almost like gas pains.  Maybe I need to see my pcp.

Just to be safe I would see both my surgeon and my PCP, I do get alot of gas by the end of the day, With my b12 over 1100 I would think I should not have all the fatigue but I do, You would think with that but in my system I could run a marathon uh yea right it takes everything in me just to do what I need to and them some, Like last wed, was so fatigued and weird things going on I had to cancel a dr. appt.  Do you have the pain all the time or is it just at a certian time?  It wouldnt hurt to get it checked out, I know now my is due to IBS.  IBS pain can be so bad you think you are haveing a pendacitis or something it really sucks but as my journy keeps going I am learning more and more.  I had stomach problems before the surgery and see to still have them where I have pain in my pouch and right side,  It all seems to be ok tho  go figure. Again to make yourself at ease I would check into it. hugs Annrenee

They did my labs at only a month out and my vitamin D was extremely low. I had to order the vitamin D from Bariatric Advantage because their capsules are 5000 IU each and I have to take 2 a day until they recheck me. I have fibro also and degenerative discs and arthritis. I hope you bring it up.

I've had a problem with low vit D since before my surgery. Just weeks before my surgery, my level was 13...it should be above 30. Any time my PCP checks it and finds it low, he orders anywhere between 1 and 4 weeks of 50,000 IU to be taken anywhere from daily to once per week to bring it up. Since the last time we had to do this I now take an extra 1,000 IU along with what is in my multi and my calcium supplement for a total of almost 3,000 IU per day. The problem is that we are spending more time indoors than generations past. We work, exercise, and relax indoors. Even when we are outdoors we tend to use sunblock for fear of skin cancer. The result is that a large majority of the US population is deficient and most don't know it. This used to be a problem seen mostly in the Northern areas during winter. They are seeing more and more of it in the South and also more cases of deficiency year round. My PCP tells me that getting just 15 minutes each day of sun exposure without sunblock will enable our body to manufacture the vit D we need to keep our levels up. Once it dips really low, it takes a long time to get it up without taking the prescription strength 50,000 IU capsules. He compares it to trying to fill a bucket with and eyedropper, it's possible but it's going to take a long time.
