I Have A Question

Hi, I am new here on the board, and I was wondering if anyone here has Blue Cross Blue Sheild Tenncare and gottwn approved for RNY surgery? I go tomorrow for my first appointment with my surgeon and I wanted to get an idela of about how long it might take to get approved.

If things haven't changed about a year ago a friend of mine had B/C B/S Tencare. It was the fastest I've ever heard of anyone getting approved. She went to her PCP on a Tuesday, he got her an apt. with a surgeon on Thursday. He sent her to get a physic apt on Friday. and she qualified by Wednesday. Had the surgery the following Monday. I know that just doesn't normally happen like that, but if you get anything close to that you'll do great. Good Luck! Bob

Hi and welcome!  I just got approved.  I have BCBS of NY (Excellus).  I've heard people say different things when it comes to BCBS and that may depend upon which policy but I have to say that they gave me no hassle and approved the first time.  They got the request 3/27 and approved today.  So, was right at 2 wks week for me.  But, I don't know about BCBS Tenncare specifically but I'm sure someone here would.  My suggestion though, for what it's worth.  Find out the requirements for WLS and get started ASAP  Good luck!

Thanks guys. You all make me feel so welcomed. Everyone on thisboard seems really nice, and I hope to get to know all of you. I went to the doctor today, and they said that I had to be medically supervised for my weight for 6 months. I have been going to another doctor for two years for the same thing, so I hope that it will work. Thanks so much everyone.
