bloodwork: do I need to be fasting?

I go on Monday to have my 6 month bloodwork. Do I need to be fasting?

Betsy, All my blood work needed to be fasting, but the last 2 I havent been able too because of the pain and meds I need to take I need to eat something with them, So the other day when I got my blood taken I explained to the lady and she says that was fine some of the results maybe be off a little, but for the most part they like it fasting. Hope all goes well.  My primeary Dr. I go there a have my blood work done and then they fax it to dr.collquitt, She also had the surgery done and Dr. Boyce was her Dr. She has done great and has recently had her plastic surgeries.  She looks Amazing. What about the vitamins...do you go ahead and take them before your bloodwork or do you wait till after the blood is drawn?

Yep, fasting.  I always take my RTD protein, yogurt or a protein bar so I can eat shortly after they take the blood. My doc is used to coming in to the exam room and finding me eating or drinking something.

Howdy...I am going to call my PCP tomorrow and ask about it...I have been waiting for one of the test results to come back.
