one month post op
One month today and I feel like.......crap.....i am so tired, and have no energy. Called my dr. about not being able to keep pured stuff down, he said water it down more. My vitiams are a pain to get down. If I could swallow them maybe it would be easier. I have to crush for 2 more months. Protein, i am doing better, but not good. Thank all of you for your support and help. Joyce in Kingsport

Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time... the tiredness could be coming (not sure though) from the anesthesia, or the lack of protein. Hun I know you arent hungry and aren't thirsty, but you have to get that protein in. Can you try some low carb masters yogurt and put in some protein powder? What kind of powders do you have? We'll try to give you some suggestions.
I know, I agree. those meds/vitamins are nasty trying to crush. My surgeon let us take them in unsweetened sugar free apple sauce... or some sugar free chocolate syrup Have you tried that or do you think it would help?
I have been using carnation instant b.f. sugar free...and adding powder milk and it stays down, The protein powders I have tried came fromGNC and they are alful. it is the smell. I got the yogurt and I can't have 9 sugars in it or I dump. I finally found one that is low carb. and only 7 sugars..but I have to be careful with it. I am just so tired all the time. Thanks for your post you always seem to help.

Do you have a krogers? They sell a yogurt that is called Krogers Carb Masters. It comes in vanilla, strawberry, peach and rasberry (although many Kroger do not carry the rasberry). They are 12 protein grams, 3 net carbs, 3 or 4 sugars per container. They are good... the best stats where yogurt is concerned. Yes you are right, 9 sugars right now surely will make you sick! Why dont you go to look for them tomorrow? If you are unable to find them, ask someone... or try another krogers nearby. They are only 45 cents also... very cheap where yogurt is concerned. This will help you a lot.
There is a protein powder that does not smell or taste. Its called "Any Whey" and they sell it at Vitamin Shoppe. You can put it in anything... they also sell something called "New Whey" and they are in a plastic tube, only 3 ounces. They come in different flavors. They have 2 protein gram contents, one is like 23 and one is 43 grams of protein. You can actually make sugar free jello from them!
Here is what you do. Boil one cup of water. Add to your jello powder. Stir up good, then add 3 oz protein liquid and 5 oz of cold water. Put back in fridge. Then you can have jello and it has protein in it! You will never know that you are eating protein!
