Sue Wilson's Daughter here
hey honey, and this too shall pass like 10 lbs in a week is o.k. I felt like I gained when I got home. My stomack was as big as a bear and the gas in it had to weigh 30 lbs.lol...I am a month out tomorrow and I still fill full of gas. So hang tight and know that you will do better soon..not that what you have done is wrong or not enough. Talk to the dr. next visit and let him know...hey, I am a person, who came to you for help. Stacy,
I am noticing first and foremost what you said you had been eating. Just Broth....You must have protein to keep your muscles and organs functioning properly. Your body is going into starvation mode a bit deeply in my opinion. Get some clear protein into your system...and it does boost your loss because your body has the protein it needs and it doesn't freak out.

Hi Beth, I have been putting protein in everything I drink from day one. I forgot to put that in my post and thought that when I said I was following the rules to the tee that everyone would assume that I was Sorry. Yes, I think I one some days are getting a little too much if that is possible. Thanks for your words.
Stacy
Stacy,
I'm sorry you feel like you do. I was the same as you at my 1 week post op visit. I had not lost a lot since surgery and it was kinda disappointing. But things will start to move pretty quickly, so just hole on to the best ride in the world. those WOW moments will start to happen and you will not believe it.
Hopefully this will make you feel a little bit better. My this Losers Bench be a place of rest after a long day of walking. May it be a place of comfort while sipping on your favorite protein shake. Most important of all, may it be splinter free!
Congrats once again on the 10 lb. lost, may it be the first of many more to come!

Hi Stacy,
Congratulations on your WLS... Your mom is a sweetheart and it is good to see you posting on the board.
I think 10 pounds is great. You have just had major surgery and your body is full to the brim of extra fluids and not to mention the gases that they inflated your abdomen with. It takes awhile to work those things out.
I believe you are quite validated with your feelings being hurt by the statements of your surgeon. I would have been upset too. He made a statement to you that was unfair and hurtful. There is no excuse for that, so I want you to keep that in mind when I go on to say a couple of things further.
This wont make you feel any better but Dr. Houston is human. And humans do and say very stupid things all the time that later they wish they could take back. We develop very trusting bonds with our Health Care providers, I think it is because we have to trust them with every fiber of our being to take care of us to be careful when they put us to sleep, to be careful when they take a knife and cut our stomachs open and remove things out of it etc. etc. etc.. With that being said it is quite a shock to be "hurt" by the one person that is not suppose to hurt us but to help us.
So see, you are human too. He hurt your feelings... I don't personally know the man but I bet if he knew that you were hurt by what he said he would apologize to you. He just probably has no idea that he just had a very stupid moment and unfortunately you were on the receiving end of his stupid moment of the day.
