Iced Tea Update

Ok, so the other day, I was really jonesing for some "sweet" tea.  So, I asked all the veterans out there about making tea and sweetening it with Sweet & Low or Splenda, etc.  I was told that was perfectly acceptable.  Some others mentioned Milo's Tea sweetened with Splenda available at Wal-Mart and how good it was.  The other night I was in Wal-Mart purchasing groceries and picked up a gallon of Milo's.  I fixed a glass this morning and let me just tell everyone out there, this is "THE BOMB!"  It really tastes like "sweet" tea and I'm lovin' it.  I don't think I will make tea at home again since this is so good.  I might even try to trick my husband into drinking it.  He says things sweetened artifically taste nasty and leave an aftertaste - but I don't find that to be the case with this.  So for all of you out there that recommended Milo's all I can say is !

Hi Wendy!   I too like Milo on a rare occasion.  It has too much caffeine for me.  But you are right, it hits the spot when you need some southern sweet tea!    Beth

I could not agree with you more. Milo's splenda sweetened tea is awesome. My kids even love it. If you ever need a good juice Misty told me about The Tropicana Lite and let me tell you it is GOOD !!!

I mix the Milo's with the Tropicana Sugarfree Lemonade and everyone drinks it like it is regular tea. A good thing to do also is to mix the Milo's with a Crystal Light Peach or Raspberry tea and Crystal light Lemonade. It makes a great fruit tea. Also, Purity Sugar Free Tea is good. Marie

I do LOVE the Milos! I am glad you liked it. I tell everyone about it. I am not into making my own tea at home because it never comes out right and I found this one and i do think it is perfect. I would keep it away from the hubby though. My husband has always drank sweet tea. I never drunk tea much before I got pregnant and found Milos. I had my husband try it and now he drinks it all up. He is like your husband, he doesn't like unsweetned tea with sweetner. He wants just sweet tea but he LOVES the Milos tea and I have to get two cartons everytime I go and tell him he has to stop when he gets his drunk and leave mine alone! hahaha.  Oh yeah, I also found the Tropicana Light Fruit Punch in the past several months. It is REALLY good if you ever what some fruit punch. It is sweetened with splenda. You can get it from walmart too for like $1.30 in a half carton in the fridge section by the milk with the other juices. Fruit Punch and Tea is about all I drank these days. Since being pregnant, the only sweetner I can/try to have is splenda so I had to give up my crystal light and kool-aid. I have to find these types of alternatives and i am so glad I did!

I've been craving some good sweet tea and I'm so happy to read this. Looks like I'll be going to Walmart tomorrow. Thanks so much.

Hey Wendy! I saw this post the other day on the Centennill site and thought of you.  It sounds really good, although we have yet to make it! There used to be a very nice restaurant in an old Victorian House in Paducah on Ninth Street called Ninth Street House. For years I had the recipe for their fruited tea and enjoyed it. I have now tweaked it for us. The original recipe was: Make 2 quarts of tea using 2 family sized tea bags. Leave out a some water to allow for juices. Add 1 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1/3 cup white grape juice. Add water to make 2 quarts and stir. Serve cold over ice. Now for the good part: Substitute decaf tea for the regular, use 1 cup Splenda (or less if yo like) instead of sugar. Use lemon juice as original and substitute one (could add 2 if you really like it) individual packet of white grape Crystal Light for the grape juice. Had it today and it was very close to as good as the original. Thought this would be a refreshing drink if it ever gets hot. I don't believe it ever will. We are expecting at least 6 inches of snow beginning Thursday night through Friday night here in western Kentucky. This sounds like weather Jill would have. Kathy P.

Thanks Scott.  That sounds wonderful.  I did get my husband to try the Milo's today.  He wrinkled up his nose and made an ugly face and immediately reached for his Mickey D's Sweet Tea.  He said he just doesn't like things sweetened artificially because it leaves such a bad aftertaste in your mouth.  I told him he didn't know bad aftertaste until he tasted IsoPuke!  He just laughed and reminded me that he did taste my bottle of it and thought it was good.  So, what does he know about taste!  The good thing is I don't have to worry about him drinking my tea and leaving me high and dry.  And now that I have the Milo's I am actually coming a lot closer to getting all my liquids in each day.  So again, for all those that recommended the Milo's thanks - it is wonderful and I love it.
