Just found out that my request for surgery was "disallowed" by BC/BS......They insist on my losing 30 more pounds so I'm quite frustrated....I've been trying really hard and only able to lose 15 pounds in the last 6 months.......I'm determined to make this happen.....  After bawling my eyes out for about 15 minutes, I decided that I had to get a grip and get MAD and show them!!!!....I've been doing 1000 calories since november and obviously have not been successful enough in their eyes!!!!!!! I'M OPEN FOR ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS!!!!   HELP!!!! WENDY

Wendy, I am so very sorry hun...  I have gotten to the point that I despise that word "disallowed".  I remember when Bob #1 was "disallowed" he said something like that word should only be used for the following sentence:  Peeing in the pool is "disallowed".   I have sent you a message.

Just what did they disallow, just because your bod  said no more, not everyone can do it, medical problems can prevent it from happening on command. Regardless of the orders that they give. Bless your heart. Hon we are with ya, Dr.Westmorelands office is go'n full steam. If you need me I'm there......even in the city.... Wendy, I am so sorry to hear about your denial.  I know how hard you have worked, and understand that health problems are preventing you from losing rapidly.  I know you CAN and WILL do it!  Hang in there, hun!  We are all pulling and rooting for you.  We believe you can do it.  !!!!!  Many of us have been on that same track of being denied.  It hurts a whole lot.  Like a stabbing pain in your heart, as if all your dreams are being smushed and you want to scream, "Don't you want me to live?  What's wrong with you people?"  But hang in there...  you are on your way towards that finish line...

Wendy, I am sorry to hear of this.  I know first hand about denials.  I had 11 prior to finding out I had leukemia, that's when I found a Dr. who would do my surgery.  Had nothing to do with the insurance as I have Medicare.  This board saved my sanity and my life with their support and prayers.  I know this is just a passing phase and you will be able to get off the 30# they want. Get mad and fight, more water, more excercise, and even cut down calories to 900.  That might help.  Watch your carbs.   I will keep you on my prayer list that everything will happen when God is ready.  He's just making sure that by losing the extra weight, that you will be able to handle the surgery and have a smooth recovery.  Losing the excess weight that is required is for your benefit and goes towards your overall weightloss and an easier recovery. May God travel with you on this next journey

Ok, we have several Melissa's on here and have had to number them, so with 2 Wendy's on  here, we will have to be numbered to.  Since you were here first, it is only fitting you be Wendy 1 and I'll be Wendy 2.  Having gotten all that straightened out, I just wanted to tell you that I'm praying for you.  I know how difficult it is to lose that weight, especially when someone tells you that you have to do it.  Hang in there girl, I know you will give this all you've got.  I would suggest you keep a food diary and exercise diary - and be very true to it.  That way when you go back to the doctor for your follow-up's and to pursue approval again, they can see all you have done to lose that 30 pounds.  Be sure to keep track of everything that passes between your lips - including gum and document tha****er consumption.  Easy on the salt and up the exercise.  Hang in there and let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with your new requirement.

My friend Wendy,  Sorry to hear that word again.   Keep trying don't give up!   You can do this and show them that they are wrong.    My prayers are with you as your efforts continue.  Do you have the support of you PCP? Other Doctors and caregivers?   Maybe more detailed letters about your health conditions would be of benefit??????  I am not sure what to suggest..  Mine claim was denied as well.  I resubmitted on Thursday last week.....no answer yet.  Hopefully soon. I will pray for you strength, determination and will power to conquer this obstacle. Sherry ps.  I am going to the BCBS website to check mine claim before going to bed.
