I GAINED weight this week!  I gained 1.2 pounds!  How can that be?  I am eating 3 meals and one snack a day-all healthy.  I am getting in the protein.  I am riding the stupid exercise bike 30-40 minutes a day, 7 days a week without fail.  WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???  I cried for an hour and then Ron was beside himself with me. Marilyn Thanks for your kind words to me especially when your not real happy right now much appreciated. But so many have said before like dieting you will hit plateaus while your body adjust to the next series off weight loss. I know easier said when its not you, but I give you permission to return the comment when I ask. C'ya keep your chin up. Tell Ron Hi. Bob

Hey Marilyn, I feel your pain I gained 3lbs last week and I am still kicking myself in the butt. Unlike you I haven't been able to really excercise, because of my lymphodeima (sp). I done the crying thing too, of course that didn't help me at all. I am trying to get back on track, but it's hard. I know this happens, but dang it's rough for sure, this was my first gain since pre-opt. I guess we just need to keep on keeping on and this too will past, at least that is what they say. Hope things get better for you. Cheryl

Sweety dont be so hard on yourself. We all go through it, right now Ive been on a stall for over a month, I gained about 1.5 to 2lbs and lose it, then gain it and lose it. Like the others have said this is our bodies still adjusting so give it some time Im sure it will start back soon. I know mine is my body adjusting and also Ive been dealing with a lot of stress lately. Ive not exercised a lot because Ive been so busy trying to get ready for this move, I know that isn't an excuse but its the best one I can think of right now for not exercising lol. Pleassssseeeeeeee nobody shoot me for that ok????? lol  But seriously hang in there it will start going down again. Make sure you are getting in your protein and your water. Don't just look at the weight because sometimes we are losing inches even though the scales aren't moving. Hugs

Why dont you give us an idea of what you ate, how much and when.  We can take a look and see what the problem is.  Or if you dont feel comfortable in doing it publicly, PM one of the veterans who can help.

Marilyn, step away from the scale!!!!! It's easier said than done.  Believe me, I know.  It is very normal to gain a little and then lose a little.  I have done the same thing as you.  I see the numbers, shake my head in despair, get depressed, and before you know it...I've lost that 1.5 pounds!  It happens to all of us. I like Melinda's idea of telling what you've eaten.  I keep my food journaled in Fit day.  this way I can look back and say, OK that was probably not a good choice.  Keeping a food diary keeps me honest, as long as you are honest with what you write down! Hang in there hon, and before you know it, you will be telling us you lost !  You're in our thoughts and prayers!

Hi Marilyn, This is very common, especially in woman.  And it's been kinda hot, except today, these last couple of days and that's usually when we swell or retain fluids the most.  I'm with the others on this one, stay away from the scales for a few days and this to shall pass.  Or, you might try leaving off the snack and cutting your calories and carbs.  I don't know what your plan is with your hospital, but at Centennial we don't get any snacks at all. Hugs, Tammy P

Marylin,          What is that old song, "Don't Worry, Be HAPPY"!!!  Well do just that, don't worry, be happy if you are doing what you are suppose to do, then it will come off and when it does, BE HAPPY!!  It is discouraging, when the scale moves in the opposite directions, so when this happens, pay extra close attention to what you are eating and doing, stop weighing and in exactly one week, weigh again and I am sure it will have moved South once again!! Just keep your chin up and, Don't Worry, Be HAPPY!! I am not allowed any snacks either, just 3 meals a day.  But like you, I have leukemia so excercising isn't always helpful when my chemo makes me sick and very dizzy at times.  I have been out 2 years and over the past month I have put on 20 lbs. I've had the tummy tuck and thigh reduction, all the weight is in my abdomin and thighs.  Plus several kidney stones in both kidneys as I found out tonight.   But only weigh yourself once a week, not every day, that can get depressing and Dr.'s scales are very depressing as they're usually higher then our surgeons scales.  Don't fret so, chances are it's only fluids.  Usually is.  Increase your water intake, that helps with excess weight.   Best of wishes to you, Kathy

Since I started this new job, I have not been keeping my food diary.  I am starting it again today!  I think I am not getting in enough water.  Do you think that could be it?  My nut in Clarksville said 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, but I only do the one, which I am cutting out as of today!  The reason was to get in the protein- a protein bar or shake is considered a snack.  My hubby was wanting me to weigh everyday but I think that would make me crazy.  After a few days, I will post my food journal.  Ot os just so frustrating to spend all this money and all the original pain and then to gain weight.  I feel like I am going to fail this just like I did every other diet. Thanx everyone, Marilyn
