Sick more?

Ever since being banded in June, I have found that I am sick more.  Not 'band-sick' but in general.  I used to never, ever get nauseus - now I get it with the slightest runny nose.  I find I'm battling more coughs and right now I am facing my first EVER battle with the flu. I heard this was common, as my body's not adjusted yet.  But I want to make sure.  Please tell me that this will pass - I'm not used to feeling so icky all the time.

I've found that as my overall health improved with the weight loss, I no longer catch every bug that is going around.  This year has been an especially rough flu season. There are many people who have never had the flu, have always taken the flu shot, and they still got it this year. They just weren't prepared for the flu strain that hit us this year. Hubby is a school photographer so he has been in and out of schools all over Tennessee, southern Kentucky & parts of northern Alabama. I insist on him getting his flu shot each year since he spends so much time around all those little two legged germ factories. So far, he has dodged the bullet this year. Part of the nausea when you have any kind of upper respiratory crud is because there just isn't as much room in your banded tummy for the sinus drainage. Try drinking something warm like tea or hot lemonade to wash some of the drainage out of the tummy.  I hope you get to feeling better!

Hey socks, I have been banded since August, so I am right behind you. I don't think I have been sick more, but I too have so much sinage drainage. I have to take something like Musicnex(sp) to help with it. I don't have to take it all the time just when I start to feel a little yucky. I did take the flu shot and although it was "official" that I had the flu, I had some type of crud, but better now. I see that you had Dr. Morton, so did I, don't you just love him to death? I also see that you are in the Smyrna area, I am in Antioch. You need to come to our little get togethers that we have at least twice a month and meet everyone, we have a great time. Jus****ch the board for all the info. We are having one this Sat at Logan's in Rivergate, would love for you to join us. You can bring family/friends the more the merrier. If you think you can make it just let Susan know to put you down and for how many. Hope to meet you soon. Keep us posted on your progress. Cheryl
