Nashville people--URGENT HELP NEEDED!!

I don't post to this forum very often anymore but I have an urgent problem.  I'm six months pregnant and about 16 months post rny.  My husband is taking classes this week at the TBI and I had the BRILLIANT idea of tagging along with my two youngest children.  So now here I sit in a hotel room off of Briley Parkway and I'm fairly (positively) sure that I have a kidney stone.  I'm peeing blood, vomiting, and having horrible pain.  I called my ob and he said to go to the closest ER and if I were a normal kidney stone patient I would head straight to wherever I needed to go but being post rny AND pregnant I don't want to run to just ANY ER.  I'm sort of scared of Vanderbilt (hubby had a pre-rny chest pain incident where I spent 8 hours in the waiting room with two toddlers watching homeless people and two gunshot victims). But, other than Vandy I have no clue about area hospitals and their expertise on rny.  The last time I took dh to a non rny performing hospital for a broken finger he was accused of being a drug seeker because he told them he was allergic to NSAIDS. I don't feel like repeating that while I'm pregnant. Someone clue me in QUICKLY PLEASE!!!!!! I'm in AGONY!!!!! Thanks in advance, Janie

I am not in Nashville but wanted to reply anyway.  Have you tried calling the front desk and asking for advice on hospitals?  Speak with anyone who looks local and see what you can find out.  I am sorry you are going through this!! Good Luck!

You could go to Centinial or Baptist. Centinial you will find Dr. Morton and at Baptist it would be Dr. Spaw either one would be a good choice at Vanderbilt it would be Dr. Richards just be sure to let them know that you are a wls patient.  And you are pregnant with kidney stones. Hope this helps sweetie, keep us updated. Hugs Barb

Go to Baptist and tell them to alert the metabolic surgical center...specifically Dr. Spaw.

Centennial or Baptist would be my choice. They are both excellent programs with wonderful surgeons. Either of these ER's have seen there share of WLS patients. Metabolic Surgery Center at Baptist (Dr Spaw, Dr Morton) Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity  (Dr Houston, Dr Dyer, Dr Olsen) Best of luck to you. Sending up prayers for you.

Oh, girl! Two suggestions: ditto Freddie --- go to Baptist - have them alert Dr. Spaw at the metabolic surgery center there. OR - call your rny doctor and ask for his advice... Hopefully, you are getting this way after you are taken care of (i'm about 5 hours later than your post...) ~ Tara

Vanderbilt is well experienced in taking care of gastric-by pass patients ...... simply tell them and what ever Dr you get , right up front what surgery you have had ..I am a patient of Dr Dyer and he practices at Centennial Hospital and he is born and raised right here in Tennessee..   although at most all hospitals now, you do encounter some employees that have a foriegn accent ,as matter of fact many  doctors and surgeons have foreign accents today ,but I am sure they are all very capable and do good jobs..  many of our physicanscome from other countries today and not from our own counrty it is a fact of life although it does show the sad state of affairs we are in as  "America for Sale." our jobs, our real estate , even our grains and products  are being shipped overseas for the higher foreign dollar. Nashville is a big city with big city problems just like all other big cities  so what you see in emergency rooms are everyday normal occurences .
