Hi Everybody,  I  had my Surgery 10 months ago April 23, 2007.  I've done great lost 193 pounds since my surgery plus 22 more the month before. I am 7 pounds from my goal of minus 200 by my surgery anniversary . Many people close to me including family members have commented that I have lost too much weight, that I need to stop loosing. I feel great  I've had no side effects of rapid weight loss. I think the biggest  shock is that people aren't used to seeing me so thin. I had been super morbidly obese for so many years. I want to loose the last 7 pounds. Has this happened to any of you and how did you react? Any comments or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Steve, Congratulations on your weight loss. I am a newbie with wls scheduled for 3/18; so these comments have not happened to me yet.   But my thoughts are this... I think you are entitled to achieve your goal without interference from others.   I am assuming that you are getting regular checkups and that your doctors are fine with your weight loss.  In other words you are healthy and your weight loss is not adversely affecting your health.  If you are happy and healthy then go for your goal...it's  7 more pounds not 70.    What an inspiration! Amen Becky.  For those that have not walked in our shoes, they just don't have a clue.  Yes, they may love us, but they really don't have a clue what we've been through.  I sometimes think they are dealing with their own insecurities regarding your personal journey.  So, I agree with Becky, if your doctor's are fine with your weight loss and your health is good, then keep on keepin' on.  Congratulations on such a wonderful victory and keep your eyes on that goal at the end.  Even though you reach goal, you will still need to be sure to keep your eyes on it always to ensure you don't go the other way again.

Congratulations on your awsome weight loss!! I have the same problem with people, even though I have not lost as much as you but I want to lose 10 more lbs. to get to 120 lbs. but everyone is like no way you will be too thin, since when is 120 lbs. too thin???? Like you everyone is used to seeing me at 280 lbs. instead of 130 lbs. and they freak thinking I will get "too skinney" wow there's something I thought I would never hear.....lol. Anyway 7 lbs. is not much just make sure you are healthy and don't keep going. Good luck!!

Yes this is very normal.  My suggestion is to keep going until you get to the goal SET BY YOUR SURGEON.  He is a medical professional.  No one knows your body like he does, nor do they have the medical experience that he does.  Are you at the goal set by him?  Does he know what your goal is, and does he concur?  Unfortunately, these very reasons were what drove me to a therapist.  It was very hard hearing people say over and over, "You need to stop losing weight."  "You're going to be anorexic."  "ARE you anorexic?"  "When are you going to eat?"  On and on the questions and comments came.  I just wasn't used to having people view my life as if I were some sort of reality show.... They also feel that they can make such public open comments since your changes have been so public...  its kind of like how we think actors/actresses lives are open to papparazzi since that is one of their prices for being a star.   You're a star right now.  People think they can tell you whatever pops into their minds.  But really, do what your surgeon says. I told my gastric surgeon twice that I was having problems of this nature.  He gave me advice twice.  You can see which you like best....I used the first one...  but wish I had the guts to use the second!!!         In his words, and I quote: "I am under the care of a medical professional.  He is aware of my situation. But thank you for your concern." "You're doctor may like you fat.  Mine likes me skinny." BTW, you look great!  congratulations!  A job well done...

Your doctor's responses are priceless.  I will have to remember those in the event I need a great response quickly.  Love them and love to read your posts - you make a girl think about a lot of things.  Thanks for being such an inspiration.
