OT - Possibly relocating to Chattanooga Area
Hello, everyone. I hope you don't mind me posting this here....My husband is interviewing for a position in Chattanooga. We currently live south of Atlanta. I know nothing about the Chattanooga area other than what we see when we visit on vacation (which we LOVE). Any advice on where would be good to look if he gets the position? WE will probably rent for a while at first. We will have to sell our house in GA if he gets the position. I'm just all over the place with this possibility. I love the St. Elmo area, but I think that is WAY over our price range.
I appreciate your help!
Stephanie
Hi Stephanie. I am a life-long Chattanooga resident. I would suggest Red Bank as a possibility. There are some quaint homes there, but the area doesn't have the "historical" distinction that St. E does (hence the $$). North Chattanooga is very trendy and nice, but it's over-priced, as well. Hixson is a great area. Most of the retail stuff is in the East Brainerd area. I guess it kind of depends on what you're looking for and your price range. Whatever the outcome, best of luck! If you end up in "Chatta-Vegas", welcome to my 'hood. :-)
Well Stephanie, come ahead hon, you just post away!!! It's all good. I promise. These folks are kool!!!

Welcome Stephanie!
I live in Chattanooga (Harrison near Island Cove Marina). Harrison is a wonderful place to live along with Ooltewah. Downtown is premium living & there are some beautiful condos located in converted buildings.
I work downtown & the commute isn't bad at all - takes me approx. 35 minutes during rush hour & w/school traffic.
You'll love Chattanooga! And I wish your hubby the best with the job.
