Prayers needed
Hey, friends! Long time no post, I know. I miss you desperately. But I'm just gonna have to miss you for another day or two...
Here's the situation... a dear friend of mine is pregnant and has been in the hospital since she was 25 weeks along. she is now 33 weeks, as of today. She has developed a condition called "placenta precreta" (I believe). Anyway, the lining of the uterus is extremely thin. This more than likely has allowed the placenta to grow right through the lining into other organs - mainly the bladder.
At 10am tomorrow morning - Tues. - they are going to take the baby C-section. Last week the baby weighed about 4pounds 1ounce, so that it good. They don't know what it is - but I'm secretly hoping for a girl, just because their lungs and all develop a little earlier.
The biggest concern at this point is Janelle (and her husband Patrick). She is in her mid-thirties and already has a 5yo son and 3yo daughter.
The doctors are prepared for her to hemorrhage - they just don't know how badly. More than likely it will call for a hysterectomy on the spot. Depending on the damage to her bladder (and any other organs?) other repair will be necessary as well. They are telling Patrick that the surgery (starting w/ c-section) will last anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours! He is not going to be able to be in there for the birth, because she is totally sedated - not just epidural.
I was planning on spending the day at the hospital with them, but found out today that their 3yo has an ear infection and their 5yo started throwing up this morning, so has some kind of funk. Janelle's mom has been in from CA to help and I told her that it was more important that SHE be there than me. The 3yo is over at a friends, and I am going to watch the 5yo so her mom can be at the hospital.
Please pray for this dear sweet family. Thanks! I knew you would!
i will try to post an update as soon as I know something...
