Protein Drinks

Ok, resident experts, I really need some help.  I am still on pureed's and absolutely hating it.  It is really difficult to remember to eat at work, so I thought I would switch to protein drinks to do at lunch at work.  Unfortunately, I can't seem to find one that doesn't make me gag and isn't as sweet as true  Southern Sweet Tea.  I have tried the Slim Fast High Protein, Slim Fast, Low Carb, and today the EAS Myoplex Lite.  All of them make me gag because they are so sweet to me and the last one actually made my pouch lurch. So, anyone that has any suggestions, please let me know, I really need some guidance on this. Thanks a bunch.

Three words.   Labrada Lean Body.  The chocolate is great.  You will need to purchase some Hood Calorie Countdown Milk, fat free.  Its at Publix, Walmart, Kroger for 3.19 a half gallon.  It is the lowest content of carbs and sugars that you can find, and it tastes good though you probably wont be drinking it but using it to mix in your Labrada.  The labrada is very thick.  You will need to do this: put about 2.5 to 3 oz of labrada in a glass or cup.  Then add a little bit of Hood milk, stirring, tasting until you get how much you need to enjoy it.  To me it tastes like Yoo Hoo if its really cold.  But, once its what you want, heat it up real good and its a great mocha...  OR you can get some decaf espresso and add a shot of that to have a real mocha...  You could serve on ice and have an iced mocha also.

Thanks Melinda. I will give that a try.  Since coffee is not my thing and I'm not fond of hot beverages, it will probably just have be a really cold pseudo Yoo Hoo.

Wendy,          The GNC on Murfreesbor Road has it for sale individually so you can get it there to try it.  I like to use the Hoods with it and add in some of the International Coffee Sugar Free Powder, it is very good and they have some that is not coffee flavored!! If you like and can tolerate milk I would suggest getting Vanilla Body Fortress powder from Walmart. It comes in a large tub for under 15 dollars and it is really good mixed with skim milk. A 8 oz glass mixed with mik gives you 32 grams of protein. Walmart also has a pre mixed. Advantedge that are ok but they are sweet as well and kind of pricey.

Thanks.  I'm willing to try most anything and may have to try this as well.  I just hate having to buy so much stuff and then finding I don't like it.  But I guess I can pass it along to others that do like it.

Wendy: Have you tried the New Whey bullets?  Two swallows and you have 21 grams of protein.  You can also mix them into sugarfree jello and you will never know it is there. Or...try Any Whey flavorless protein as an additive in soup.  I used it quite a bit when I was an early post op.  You can use a half to a whole scoop in soup and you will never know it is there. Good Luck! Freddie

Where do you get these?  Do they come in flavors?  How do they taste?  What type of texture do they have.  You know, since my surgery, if it smells funny, tastes funny, or has a weird texture, I just can't get it down.  It's amazing what this surgery does to all aspects of our bodies.  My husband, bless his heart, just doesn't understand.  He thinks I'm putting on a show when he brings something in to eat and it smells so strong/bad to me that I have to leave the room.  And, I'm finding it's not just food odors that are overly strong to me - it is a lot of other odors as well. Oh well, I know this will eventually get better and I can tolerate most anything for a short amount of time.  Thanks again for the idea/suggestion. Hugs to you my loser buddy,

Unjury makes a protein powder that is supposed to be (virtually) flavorless. Maybe it's something you could mix in with yogurt, cottage cheese, or the like. *Note* I have not tried this product - I've just heard about it on other message boards.
