You are moving right along. I can't believe how far you've come in less than 6 months. I know you've had a lot going on with sick kids, sick hubby, snow days, etc. I hope to make it to church this Sunday. (2 drains are a lot easier to conceal than 5) I'll be able drive after this Thursday. Perhaps we can meet for lunch.

I do feel better. I actually went out and got the newspaper yesterday. I took my long grabber to pick it up with since I'm not allowed to bend from the waist for 6 more weeks. I felt like I had really accomplished something when I came back in. LOL It doesn't take much to amuse me these days. You're closing in on onederland aren't you? It's getting close!!!!!

Hi Susan; This is just wonderful news.  You are recovering so nicely...   How big are the drain tubes?  When I think of tubes I think about the tubes that the Protein Bullet drinks come in LOL....  I was just wondering how big they are... Can't wait to see you....

The tubing itself is the size of IV tubing. Each tube is held in place with a stitch to keep it from pulling out. Then there is a bulb on the end that you keep compressed so suction will pull excess fluid out of the surgical site. Kind of like having a big tick attached to you with IV tubing. They don't hurt they're just annoying. Everything does seem to be healing quite nicely. I have one spot on my tailbone region that drains quite a bit but there is no infection. The surgeon says many people get an irritation in that area because we have to spend so much time laying on it. I can't lay on my sides until after these last 2 drains come out.  I am so looking forward to getting back into my own bed! I'm also looking forward to being able to shower!! Bill has been wonderful about giving me sponge baths and washing my hair but I want to feel the water run down all over my body. I can shower 24 hours after the last drain comes out.
