Question:

Has anyone ever ordered protein products from ebay?  If so, how did it work out? BTW:  I was told by insurance today that they should have a decision by Friday!!  I wonder what their process is for deciding?  Seems like they could just look at it and say yea or nay.  Maybe they do and I'm just far enough down in the pile of papers that I'll reach the top by Friday! I'm anxious to have enough protein but don't want to stock up because my taste may change.  That's really not much to worry about, is it?

Sorry Jane, can't help with the EBay scenario!  We ordered the sample pack from Bariatric Eating.  Keep your chin up and it will be Friday before you know it!

Personally, I would be just a bit leery of buying protein off ebay. You might wind up with some out of date product. If the person selling is posting the expiration date, you may be okay though. Like Scott said, I recommend ordering the sample pack from bariatriceating.com. This will give you a variety of brands and flavors to try so you can find what you like before ordering a big container. I think we have all wound up with a jug or bag of something we bought because someone else loved it only to find that we couldn't gag it down. Also, if there is something you would like to try that is not available in samples, just give a shout out and I'm sure someone here on the board will be willing to get a sample to you from their personal stash. I believe everyone' tastes have changed after surgery. Sometimes the change is short-term and some changes are permanent. I liked soy shakes pre-op and can't stand the smell, taste or texture of them now. I wound up throwing out a bunch of it because I couldn't find anyone else who wanted it before it expired.

I would only order from ebay if they had a brick and mortar store.  You know...like Vitamin Shoppe or something like that.  Let us know what you like and maybe we can get you some samples.  Cheap isn't always best when it comes to your supplements.  You get what you pay for.

I love LaBrada vanilla, AchievOne Cappucino, Whey Gourmet Chocolate Peanut Butter (actually any Whey Gourmet flavor is yummy!) and my new favorite (thanks to Susan giving me a couple of samples) is Nectar Cappuccino.

That is EXACTLY what I needed to know, and thank you all for responding so quickly.  I am always simply amazed at the early morning hours some of these posts are made!!  I am on a different biological clock from most people, and only begin to wake up near the noon hour! I shall order the sample pack from bariatriceating.com and try them out.  I know what I like for the pre-op two weeks. Again, this website (for providing the forum) and you folks who offer your wisdom and experience are grand.  I am almost overwhelmed with gratitude! Sounds like you and I are on the same clock.  I say I like to get up about the crack of noon.  But then I don't go to sleep until around 2-3am.  I have found that I like the taste of protein powders the further out I get.  The bariatric eating sample pack is the best value for the money and it is a reputable business.  I do eBay alot but not food products.

I shall take your advice! I've been "off" all my life.  I feel great late at night but I've always worked in a morning job, so I'm always dragging.  Glad to know there's another.  We'll have to communicate when everyone else is snoozing!! Thanks for responding!
