3 wk post op and muscle relaxers

Hi everyone.  I have a question.  Went to my PCP today for checkup on bp.  I no longer have to take bp pills, water pills and arthritis pills.   YEEHA!!!  Anyway, my question is this.  I've been having muscle spasms in my upper back for the last week.  My pcp gave me muscle relaxers.  Is it safe to take them this soon after surgery?  Has anyone else taken them?  I know no one can give medical advice but I would like to hear from someone who has been in this situation.
