Hi, I am just two days home from the hospital and find that I am completely exhausted.  It takes all the strength that I have to go up and down the stairs to the kitchen.   I am able to tolerate my liquids and have had no issues other than gas and exhaustion.  Oh, I forgot about the low grade temp. It's been running around 99.5 since the hospital. Just looking for suggestions on how long these issues will last.

The energy problem will last for several more weaks but it is well worth it.  If you are having problems with your fever, it would not hurt to contact your surgeon, better safe than sorry!!!  Better to catch a problem early than later, I am not saying this is a problem, so don't worry, just contact your surgeon and make sure.  I can't remember for sure, but I don' t believe they get too excited until it becomes over 100 degrees though!!!  If you have any other questions feel free to as****il then keep sipping and gettingin your protein.    Good Luck, keep us posted,  Shelia

You have just had major surgery, of course you are exhausted! The fatigue usually lasts for 6 - 8 weeks and then you will find energy you never knew you had. I was told to contact the doctor with anything 101.5 or higher. I would say to keep an eye on it, make sure you are getting plenty of fluids (even mild dehydration can cause a rise in temp) and give your doctor a call just to put your mind at rest. Take it easy sweetie, your body has been through a lot. All of this will pass and you are going to love what is in store for you.

What they said...except...I could really tell the difference if I wasn't sipping clear protein all day at that stage to keep my strength up. Isopure Clear no carbs is at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. Some people hate it. I heard someone mention one they liked better but don't recall the name right now. All I could do was sip and talk mini walks that actually helped the pain. When I sat for too long I got stiff and bloated. Beth B. in TN

I am one of the ones that suffered for 71/2 weeks on Isopure, or as it is known by many, Isopuke!!!  The drink that Beth is speaking about is very good, it is Cytosport Pure Protein, it comes in three flavors, Watermelon, Tropical Punch and an orange/tangerine flavor, you may want to try it, it is a little strong, so you may want to add a little water to tame it down a little!!  GNC and Vitamin Shoppe both have it that I know of. Good Luck,  Shelia
