I KNOW YOU THINK I HAVEN'T BEEN LISTENING....but there is so much I just can't keep it strait.  In Kingsport we have a drug store "Mac's" and they sell single packs of protein...in wonderful flavors......the carbs are 12 g..but fiber is 1g sugars 9g calories 100 protein 14g....is this good for a packet that you can take with you?  Also they carry all kinds of protein mixes..I got one that has 24g protein per serving..no carb  and 110 calories...with all kinds of vitamins..is this o.k.  $12.00 for 16 servings?   I start my preop on the 10th of Feb.  so any help. Thank you all.  Joyce

The one with 12 grams of carbs is too high in carbs and too low in protein. The second one with zero carb and 24 grams protein is much better. You can probably use the 12 carb gram on as part of your pre-op but that many carbs may make you dump post-op. Also, be aware that your tastes WILL change post-op. The protein you like pre-op may taste absolutely awful afterwards. This is why we recomment buying sample packs and waiting until after surgery to try them. You can get sample packs at bariatriceating.com as well as a few other online locations. Some GNC and Vitamin Shoppe stores will also allow you to sample products before you buy a whole big jug. Good luck!

I think the first one with 9 grams of sugar is too much sugar right after surgery. You have to watch that too. Especially since it is only 14 grams of protein. Of course, if you like it and that is all you can tolerate, then go for it. But I would just say be careful the first few times trying it after surgery to see how your body will react to it. The other one is really good  but does seem to be a little on the pricy side. I definatley second what Susan said about getting sample packs to try after surgery. Plus, the sample packs from bariatriceating are designed specifically for bariatric weight loss surgeries. A lot of protein you find is for muscle building and have lots of calories and sugar in it that are not made for WLS. I hope you find something you like.
