Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm not going to be posting on here as much as I have been. I really care for all of you, but I cannot support the "procedure bashing" that seems to be quite prevalent on this forum. as most of you know, my wife had RNY and is quite sucessful. I cannot call it "ruined n why", as she and the other members of her group neither look or act "ruined".

I'm all for educating people looking for information, but the prevailing attitude seems to be if you don't go with DS you are either stupid/cowardly/ or forced into it by an insurer. There are too many people out there who have RNY that are sucessful, and had RNY because they chose to AFTER reading all the facts, not because someone made them.

It is through self appointed arrogance that DS'ers think that DS is the ONLY correct surgery for EVERYONE, not just themselves. I will no more force my surgical beliefs on anyone else than I will my religious or political ideals. I can imagine the uproar if anyone did.

Remember my friends, educate the unknowing with love and compassion. Let them know how wonderful your life is after DS, and then let them make the decision. But please don't ridicule them if they don't or didn't make the decision you want them to. What in your mind may be their mistake might be a huge sucess for them.

Please leave the FLAMES in the fireplace, the TROLLS in the fairy tales, STIRRING THE POT on the stove, and the CHILDREN on nick.com not OH. I will still be around, and wish all of you continued health and sucess. And I will be "paying it forward" in my own little way, as much as possible.

Thank you all once again for all of your support during the time when I needed it most. Especially Dianna, who although "flamed" me good in the beginning on non WLS issues; I now count as a "fellow human being" and a friend. And LeaAnn, Lori, Lola, Nicole,Nicole K (love the Transformers)and too many others have also been great. Continue the good work of educating the unknowing.

May God continue to richly bless and keep all of you in His love and grace.

Your servant and brother in Him,
Doug

Hi Doug, Very eloquently and maturely said.  I hope the offending people will see themselves in your words and change their behavior on the board, but it's not likely.  Congrats and best wishes on your continued success.
