Fishy
Good morning all,
I feel like I need to add fish to my diet. But, in the past I have only liked fried catfish and fried crappy and shrimp prepared almost anyway. I liked crab but it is such a pain in the ... Anyway, I know I don't like salmon-too fishy, and I can eat albacore tuna but not regular. Any ideas? I haven't been very adventurous in the past, but think I should branch out and add it to my diet. What are some good ones to start with?

I'm like you I do not like fish that taste fishy. (Sounds funny when you think about it
)
Anyway the key is to get the fish as fresh as you can. Most nice resturants do a nice job of cooking only fresh fish. If you are making it at home check with your grocery store and ask them what days they receive there fresh fish. Even salmon doesn't taste fishy if you can get it fresh. Talopia and Sea Bass are my favorites. Mahi Mahi is also good. Hopefully that helps.

I enjoy cooking the cod, spray with pam, lightly place cut up bokchoe (sp) lightly salted/peppered alittle
butter sub or butter on top lay the cod season salt on both sides of the fish along with the salt and pepper. Add alittle pam to the fish so that it will not dry out . Bake at 425 until fish is flaky

I am sure that you have heard this a million times already and if you have not, you are about to, your tastes change after surgery!! So try it a little at a time, you can try the ones in the pouch to see if you can tolerate it, therefore it is not quite as expensive or share a meal with someone while you are out, just make sure you know how it is prepared!!! Fish is a wonderful source of protein, I know I lived on shrimp ****tail for a long while, it just tasted so good and was easy to prepare. I did however, use salad shrimp, because it was smaller and seemed to be not quite as tough as larger shrimp, plus no tails!!! I got some sugar free coctail sauce, by Walden Farms, but I you can check the ones at the store and get one that does not have many carbs!!!

I absolutely love the Tilapia from Aldi's (cheap, cheap, cheap!). In addition to tasting so good, there are several fillets in a bag, and each one is individually vacuum-packed. This helps in 2 ways - you can cook just one now, and one a few days later or whatever. Just take out what you need! The other plus to this is that they don't freezer burn.
I bought them right after surgery, and I pulled one out a week or so ago and it was just as good as the one I fixed back in September! Each fillet is 4oz and offers 21g of protein!
I just thaw mine out in cold water in the sink, takes about 5-10 min., max. then I spray a little pam in a pan to keep it from sticking, and cook it on top of the stove... about 3-4 minutes each side. I have added different seasonings to it - try different ones - whatever you like at the time.
Also, like Shelia said, shrimp ****tail is very yummy and high in protein as well. I have also had some crab leg meat from Aldi's that was delicious! They have it both in "pieces" and in long "leg" strips. I bought the strips and they were great! Makes for a healthy, high protein snack!
I have yet to order any at a restaurant, so maybe you can tell me some good ones when you try them!
